So, I bought a 5m wing for moderate wingfoiling at the start of the summer. It complements my 7m windsurf sail used for windfoiling in light wind. Well I have had exactly two days of winging and a ton of windfoiling, to the point where I am starting to get bored of lightwind windfoiling. I am curious to hear from anyone with a 6.5 to 7m wing. How do you like your wing? Would you buy it again? Does it give you the low-end you expected? Any experience is appreciated.

I had the 6m Echo and found it really good in lighter winds. I originally wanted the 7m echo but there weren't any available. Ive now got a 7m Echo and with my Windfall board and i99 foil I think I'm now almost on par with the light wind ability of my wind foiling kit. I use a 5.7m Lift as my biggest sail and I think I'm able to get up and foiling in 12mph. The 7m Echo is probably 13mph.
I sail in shallow flat water so I have the advantage of being able to concentrate on the wing to get going but I am feeling that with more fitness and strength i will eventually get the wing up and going as quick as the wind foiling kit.

The same foil and wing with a shorter board and slightly less volume needs 15-16mph so its very much kit choice for me atm.

I am also very aware that as i get better and more skilful the 6m may actually be a better light wind wing because its lighter and pumps more aggressive,y but once up will be faster and more efficient.

When you get bored try dropping the wing and pump, or tacks, 360's switch...novelty spots...boat wakes...waves its almost endless. If all that is boring not sure.

I should have been more clear. Whenever I am windfoiling with the 7 the wind is so marginal all my sailing is back and forth gust hunting, not even close to being enough for anything you suggest, and there are no safe novelty spots or boat wakes. If I could sail say a 5.0 regularly I am sure it would still be stoked.

Heliboy999 I have enjoyed watching your progression in your videos. I have watched a decent sailor with the Lift 5.7 and Hover setup here recently. I was disappointed to see how much he struggled to get on foil with it. While the 7m Echo seems to hold a lot of promise, if it takes more wind than the 5.7 setup I may just stick with windfoiling as the 5.7 Lift is pretty much a "high wind" setup here if you can imagine that!

I have chased the light wind thing a bit with gong 7m and ozone 6m. Unless there's waves, I now tend to kite foil instead. The wing loses out in work to reward ratio until it gets a little windier

Agree. Kitefoiling is so much better in very light winds. Wing when there are small (or large) waves.

By "kitefoil", I assume you mean 12 meter inflate or 9 meter foil kites?
My 9 meter foil flies well in 8 knot breeze, but almost falls in 4 knot lulls. I even tried 16 meter lines to reduce the line sagging drag in the lightest breezes.

I bought a 7m echo and it is a lot of fun in light winds and I generally get going before the guy on an 8m windfoil. I really enjoy it and have no issues gybing/tacking or pumping onto the wing. I would definitely buy it again (or an 8 or 9 if they existed in a boomed model).

But wings currently do not go as low as my 17m strutless kite and 1020 AXIS foil (7 knots).
