I am still looking for wide HA foil for light days. But more I read the harder it gets to choose from. Some foils 122-140 cm wide have thickness of 16mm, others 21-23mm.
I am winging in inland lakes where wind is asthmatic. Also wind is affected by high coast line and islands so direction of the wind differs in different parts of the lake.
So what is better to choose: a glider around 16mm on which would be harder to get on foil or 23mm which would be easier to get up but would be more draggy.
If you producers' material, all of the foils get up early, easy to pump and endless glide goes as standard. But how is in reality?
My biggest wind is Echo 7m, board is Takuma ZK SUP 6' width 26"

Whatever you choose, I recommend a foil that will allow you to pump out of a transition from a very low speed to gain apparent wind. HAs are great when they have speed, but if they are too thin, the stall speed is low so a botched transition will result in a reset.
You could also consider a larger thin MA to get the glide and low end that can work well in gusty lake conditions.
