Anyone with experience, good or bad with Takoon boards ?
Look good and well priced, bit nervous about the new trend towards no vent system ?

there some french review recently about the glide v2 were customer that are surprised about the pressure dent. other than that usualy customer are pretty happy with the fact the board glide a lot in water and offer a faster take off.
i've seen the previous used glide v1 on my spots and it's was in pristine condition and some comet v1 seemed clean i didnt noticed any pressure dent.

I guess it is a mistake, and he meant pressure vent.

(Or he had a cold :-) )

I have been mulling on the 55l glide v2 or the new ultra glide. Any boards I have seen in the flesh look solid and d lads that ride them have plenty of praise for them.

It's related to the construction of the board, usually carbon sandwich is not supposed to ding under your foot.
Maybe a batch were the qc was not up to part ?!

I bought a Glide last year primarily because it was not made with eps. Their closed cell foam is tough and won't sponge up water. It's heavier though. I have some dings on the nose from laying my slick boom across it and pushing too hard while learning to stinkbug start. Price is great. Super enjoyable to ride. I could find a lighter board but I appreciate the ruggedness.

Fused (closed cell) foam is pretty cool, ak brand board use this too.

I have 2 Takoon boards (95 liters and 81 liters). The workmanship is really excellent. The 95 liter board weighs 6.9 kg and the 81 liter board 6.3 kg. So they are a bit heavier than most stock boards. The advantage, in my opinion, lies in the XPS foam, which cannot absorb water. Boards made of XPS foam do not need a pressure valve because the cells are closed. Basically, it can be said that the larger the board, the greater the weight gain compared to boards made of EPS foam. I just ordered a downwindboard with a volume of 125 liters. In this case, I deliberately chose an EPS board (Gong Cruzader 6`6 XL), because I suspect that a board made of XPS foam will be much heavier with such a volume. Although the Takoon Escape already looks really nice. Unfortunately there are no reviews about this board yet...

I asked the weights from Takoon -
Board weights:

Escape 8'0 = 9.1 kg
Espace 7'10 8.4 kg
Escape SW 7'0 = 8.8 kg
Escape SW 6'10 = 8.1 kg
Ultra glide 6'8 = 7.6 kg

maybe they are super strong but too heavy for me after borrowing a 8kg homemade board

I have the glide v2 in 55l. Weight is 4,7 kg. I really like the board. Built quality seems to be really good, but only time can tell. So far I have no issues with any pressure dents.

I have the v1 Glide, amazingly super stiff and nice and narrow.
And yes I have some pressure dents... Now I know what they are called !Hasn't stopped be from getting a v2 55l. They are good boards...

Glide V1 was Takoon's best seller and V2 seems to be even better. P.S. subtitles with automatic translation is quite ok

Anyone used with Armstrong foils?

No, only with Axis and Fanatic. Allways in the rearmost position. Should be some space to the front.

One guy on my spot was using it with a Armstrong foil no rake shim, seem to be flat bottom.

that's why! I just got my Glide V2 5'4 90L in carbon clear and it looks awesome. I used to have F-one Rocket V2 5'4 75L but with my 82kg + wet wetsuit and other gear (8+kg) it was a nightmare to get on the board quickly especially in chop during races. Takoon board weights 6.5kg which is acceptable. Foots trap holes are positioned much better than Rocket V2 which was way too wide for me (184cm) and I know some people were complaining about that too. It feels compact and small for the volume but has good glide and is very stiff once up on the foil. I've put a rail protection tape around the board just for the piece of mind as I hate to ding them but the board feels strong so maybe it wasn't necessary.

I own a Takoon Glide V2 5?0 70 litres. Love this board, it's my one-board quiver from 12-13 knots up to 35 knots. Picked it up new in Tarifa while on holiday there at their shop from "JuanMa" who was very helpful and also arranged for the VAT deduction too (as I live outside EU), which was successful. I literally paid maybe 50-60% of what any other production board would have cost and the fact that they produce in Portugal is great.

I owned a Reedin Feather wing board before who's build quality seemed questionable.

The Takoon on the other hand seems bullet proof and there is no paint or deck pad flaking off which was an issue with my previous board from very early on.

Carbon finish is very nice, I have the grey version. Seems very stiff to me.

One thing that Takoon doesn't do very well is straps. The v-straps work fine to keep your feet secure for gentle free riding and wave riding but they are so soft I would never jump with them.

Eyeing a possible Takoon Escape or Escape SW but would be nice to get some more reviews in.

Good question. I'd like to know the answer for Taken boards but also for other boards. I recently switched from SB to Axis, and noticed that touchdown recovery has gotten a lot harder. With various SB foils, I was usually able to stay dry in touchdowns after overfoiling. With the Axis (HPS1050), it's always a nose dive and crash. I had only a few sessions on the new foil so I thought I'd have to get used to it, but a more nose-down board could also be the issue. I'm on a 115 l SB wing board.

I can't answer for Axis, but I can answer for Fanatic. With my Gong Cruzader I don't need a mast-fuselage shim with my Fanatic foils. For my Takoon boards (Glide SW and Glide V1) I use a 1 degree mast shim. It feels much better with the shim.

Sorry, I meant a board shim plate, not a mast-fuselage shim. For example like that:

I've always needed mast plate shims with axis masts.

Thanks all. I tried a 1 deg shim today and it felt better, but possibly not enough. Going to try a 2 deg shim next time.
