90kg-ish beginner in light wind area currently using phantasm E1090. Assuming they progress what direction would you recommend they go G-series or PTM-series or a smaller E series?

G series. Likely g900

PTM926 is very commonly available and a great mid aspect.

Thanks, so it wouldn't be too big of a jump from the E1090 to the PTM926?

Honestly I think the 926 could be a first foil. It's not a difficult one to use.

G900 is the current replacement for the now discontinued ptm926. Very easy sailing and indeed could be a first foil. (Way easier than what I learned on many years ago...)

I agree with others, the next natural progression will be the G900 (refined version of the 926).

When you feel comfortable with the G900 swap out the 400-rear wing for the 360V and it really gives you confidence to carve even harder and not lose pitch stability.

Take a look at the Slingshot PTM 999 or even the 899. IMO the E1090 is not only a great first foil but also a great low wind foil and well worth keeping. I wouldn't bother with the smaller E series foils -- no faster, you'll want something more progressive. Slingshot is phasing out the Phantasm line so maybe there will be some discounts in the near future.

Ptm 799, 899, and 999 are indeed great foils, but a much bigger step up in skill required compared to the g series foils. Probably not a great choice for a second foil after a super-sized e series foil.
