New toy! Tried the 940/700HS/370 combo today.

My daily driver is the 1000/647/400 on a Project Cedrus 90cm mast, Fanatic Sky Wing 5'0" 75l, I'm 85kg. Usually on 4.0 or 3.3 Duotone Unit

Tried today w/ my regular board and 3.3 Unit in decent wind w/ decent windswell. First impression was smooth ride... more settled than the 1000, but still had the familiar slippery feeling and low drag feel. Seemed to find equilibrium at a lower speed than the 1000 which matched well the speed of windswell... less work to keep going. Pumping seemed more effective and a touch easier, possibly b/c I didn't need to maintain as much speed to stay in the wing's comfort range.

1000 is set all the way forward in the tracks. tried the 940 in the middle. next time will try the 940 3/4 the way forward... was a little bit in the back seat today.

940 has the potential to be my daily driver, but will have to try it back to back with the 1000. Will also have to try the 799 again w/ the new fuse and stab... didn't particularly like the 799/710/483 the one day I rode it... felt slow and draggy compared to the 1000 w/ a lot of front foot pressure, but the new stab and fuse might address some of that (lower angle on the stab and front wing closer to mast).

940 seemed to be a little less prone to tip ventilation when driving upwind through swell.... although I did go down once today due to this. the 1000 seems to recover easier from a flat breach/ventilation. small sample size.

No experience with the 1000, but have the Sab82mast, HS-fuse 1100,940 and the 799. I used to have the 950 as well but sold that last week.I,m 188x96kg using an AKPhazer5.8x90l and not that experienced but love the Balz and he 940 with the 483.
In the beginning the 950 was very good and slippery through the water, but when i try to turn tighter it just loses all the grip. For me its difficult to find that exact point.
The 799Balz feels as fast as the 950, but with a way tighter turning radius and heaps of grip. almost like you are on rails. With the 399 stab i have the same feel as with the 950. This can be my lack of technique, but for now I prefer the more secure feel of the 483.
There isnt much that the Balz can do, but there is an speed limit.

The 940 has a bit less lift/frontfoot pressure, higher topspeed but also significant higher stallspeed as the 950/Balz799.In grip with the 483 they feel a bit the same, the 940 is just faster and reaches that topspeed easier/with less effort.
One thing I did notice, is that with the 940 i need a few knots more wind as with the 799Balz or 950 (the difference between the 950 and Balz is virt nothing).
Position Wise: I like some positive frontfoot pressure, the 940 needs to be 2.5cm more forward as the Balz799 to get the same pressure frontfoot feel.

Tried today the 940 on a lake with 4m wing well powered switching back and forth with the 483+399 stab.
With the 399 it is still more nervous in the jibes as with the 483, but manageable for my (lack of) skills. The times I tried that combo at sea it was very choppy, lots of white water and hammer gusts, now in moderate conditions The 490+399 was great. a LOT faster as the ith the bigger stab and made me able to ride the calf/knee high bumps of the lake while flagging the wing :) Riding bumps on a 10km2 inland lake, who would have thought that a couple of years ago. :)

A friend of me borrowed my Balz 799 and was really impressed by it, but when we sailed together the speed difference and longer glide of the 940 was quite obvious.
Still love the Balz for its heaps of grip and think it needs less wind as the 940, but when its really windy, the 940+399 is my new go to combo :)

will maybe try the W799 w/ the 700-HS & S370 today... hard to switch gear when you're having so much fun... especially where I sailed the last two days it's very time consuming to come in and out of the water.

had a day on the 799 w/ the 700-HS fuse and 370 tail... much better experience than on the 710 fuse w/ the 483 tail... much more even/balanced lift, less drag, and better speed. turning was quite nice... not quite as much glide and carry as the 940... speed felt a bit less. fun ride and would love to ride again.

yeah it is noticeable slower as the 940.I think the stab is a matter of skill and conditions and i,m pretty sure yours are a lot better then mine
On relative flat water I really like the 399 stab (I don't have a 370). It is faster and less drag. In conditions like I had today side-on, 5m on the small side with knee high chop from every possible direction and slow windswell running through it that is actually hard to find a spot to pump you board on the foil without running straight in the next knee or bigger chop I prefer the 483 stab because it offers more grip and control and a lower stall speedIn conditions like today (that are even for here are like sh#t) the 940 simply needs too much speed and goes faster as the swell running through while the higher stall speed makes it difficult to jibe in between that mess.
The Balz offers at least for such conditions often the right speed to ride the swell.
When it is cleaner and we have for here longer lines (7sec period is considered good over here) the 940 and 399 is really good.
