I'm hoping for some advice from anyone with experience using longer masts.
Having just started using the NL220 & 160 for winging I bought the 36.5" mast to replace my 32.5" and although I'm finding it much better for avoiding breeches in big swell, I'm finding it so much less responsive for turning - I just can't get the same tight/quick turns as I did with my old 32.5" mast. Is this something that I'll adapt to and get better with over time or it is a real issue with longer masts?

I've been playing around with mast length on the wingfoil for a while. My happy place is currently 82cm, using axis.
This length gives a little more room for breach error than the 75cm. Tried using the 90cm and found it had too much leverage on a sup board and felt too high to feel the energy in water. It Is amazing the difference a few inches makes! I'm still experimenting and keen to see if going to a smaller 5' wing board makes a difference. Currently using 6,4" Sunova.

Stands to reason and logic...
Long mast, bigger boards, less easy turning, higher to clear wind swells.
Short mast, smaller boards, quick easy turning that allow you to turn to clear higher windswells.

My 85cm mast feels like a Ferrari. My 100cm mast does not. I only use 100cm when I have to.
