My family wants to learn to fly...over XMas...
Now we need to find a place where "perfect" conditions for beginners can be found at that time of the year: Warm water, no waves, good wind, Wing school + lessons available, safe surroundings. And not too far away from Germany .
I know Perth would most likely be perfect, but this is really a bit too far away. Anybody with recomendations in maybe Bay of Bengal? Thailand?

Can you share some advice on flights from Holland (klm?), lodging, spots whereyou can winDfoil with a 90cm mast, rental gear? Might even consider some winGfoil lessons when there. Thinking about end Jan/beginning Feb.thx Jeroen!

Langebaan (100km from Cape Town). Rental centre, good wind & same time-zone as you (no jet lag)

Not close, but I believe Turks and Caicos has direct flights from Europe and its an ideal learning setup with very consistent wind at that time of year.

Dahab (and a lot of europe) is off-season at Xmas, so wind may be spotty, and there is a lot of entitled rich Russians hiding out in Sharm and surrounds. Morocco should still have some solid breezes and has a few lagoons (or Canaries as others have said), if you could handle a longer flight for guaranteed wind then Sri Lanka, Zanzibar or Capetown or Brazil and head further north to Jeri.

There's also direct overnight flights to Mauritius from Frankfurt but accommodation is not too cheap.

Basically anything that is solid wind and warm is going to be 16 hours.... Then just pick your pricepoint.

If you want to stay local then Morocco would be my pick I think.

The UAE is reasonably close. Decent wind and flat with lessons and gear available at Jebel Ali, on the edge of Dubai.

How strong is the wind in Dubai this time of the year?

It can vary week to week like all places. Last week for 4 days it was 12-15kn average but probably 18kn in some places. I was riding with an 840 foil and 4m wing.
Not strong compared to a lot of places, where some don't go out in less than 15kn. If you took that approach here, you'd be cutting your session numbers radically.
We do learn good light wind technique as there are heaps of sessions at 9-12kn.

I think most foilers here have had sessions every weekend for the past 3-4 months with others lucky enough to get in after works during the week. Check out foilandwater on Youtube.
