Few popular options starting from the Freo.

Port Beach - Best beginner spot. Easy launch as protected by North Mole from bigger swells. Go out about 500m to get the bigger swells and bumps.

Steps - Better surf spot than port, but also easy launch as protected by the reef. Beginner friendly-ish but if you get dragged downwind you'll end up on rocks/reef.

Dutchies - Rides basically same as Steps, but is full of poleys in a good wind. Nice grass option to rig up at the top.

City/Floreat - not really used as a surf spot but common start/finish point DW'ers (Port 2 CB & CB 2 Sorrento). Nasty beach break with any amount of swell so not beginner friendly.

Grabbers - Another good surf spot just south of Sorrento. Easy launch as protected by reef.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Ended up seeing a few wingers out at Steps. Nice spot to wing with a few lumps to play around on. Appreciate your feedback.
