The backpack is kind of a bummer no matter what for me. I'd find a way to lash it to your board like a foildrive battery if you can.

I love this fully waterproof bag. Can fit two BRM parawings perfectly. Bombproof. Look for it on sale, otherwise, it's too pricey.

It's made for fly fishing/wading, so it's really easy to undo one of the two straps and it swings around to your stomach so it's easy as to swap PWs with the zipper facing up on your lap.

They other day my buddy was learning and getting blown offshore with the current, underpowered on a 4M. I went over and and took out my 4.8 and packed away his 4M and he made it back to shore easy.

Yeah, just make sure to fully lock the zipper. I left one side open a cm one session and it slowly took on water throughout the session to the point where I couldn't get on foil anymore. I went to grab a bigger PW and found the problem

The manera deflater bag seen in these two videos looks interesting. First video shows a more normal real life person, unlike Superman Gwen in the second.

I do like the drainage solution. But noting too that this was developed before PW was a thing. Maybe a v2 of the Manera bag could be a little bit more compact.

I understand the fully sealed Patagonia sling is great when your parawings are nice crispy dry. But when one is wet and in the bag it would be nice to have a drain.

North has a bag for its parawing but no plans it seems to sell as standalone item judging by Dylan's response www.facebook.com/groups/1241951093807137/posts/1463704041631840/

Definitely can see the need/use for a manera type pack for optional stashing besides a stash belt .the manera looks nice but seems made for wings though so probably a little on the bigger side they need to make a adjustment for a parawing size for 2 and be tops

Yeah I'm not sold on a drain option. I think the best solution is fully waterproof. The best technique is to get is as dry as possible before stowing. Ideally that means flying and shaking it a bit before carefully stowing.
With a bag that allows water ingress means that one fall allows water to fill all the nooks and crannies of the wadded PW, much of which will not drain without turning the bag upside down.

On my last session with the double skin Paia, I fell at the top of the run and fully submerged the PW. I relaunched quickly and immediately stowed the Paia in my ozone belt. It was so heavy that it made pumping between sections awkward, having to hold it steady with free hand. Squishing and squeezing it to help water out didn't make much of a difference. Obviously a double skin is worse than a single skin.


Another time, when I left my bag open a tiny bit, water got in and soaked my two back ups. After dumping the water out, the bag was still waaay heavier. Not to mention that I had to dry two extra wings post session.


I think companies could easily make a roll top option and maybe add a plug(s) at the bottom. Roll top would be cheap to make, no expensive zippers. A series of a few 1 cm wide drain holes at the bottom that could be plugged with little rubber stoppers would be amazing. I'm considering trying to add that somehow to my Patagonia for the best of both worlds.

Totally agree, I've been using a See to Summit waterproof sling with roll top. So light and you can squeeze the water out pretty easy. I'd like to get the last of the air out and was thinking a one way valve would be nice if possible. The 9L fits the 4.5m wet Paia nicely (below). I honestly don't notice it on my back, maybe a little when prone paddling. I get that a stash belt should be open, but for storing a second wing then it has to be water tight or it will gain so much weight when you fall in.

Yes 8L is correct, not 9L my mistake. I also have a 5L which fits a BRM single skin but the opening is a bit small takes longer to put the wing in. For the ultimate light weight performance this is an option but I tend to use the 8 L most of the time.

Well this thread has been a good read. I was just thinking about this as I did my first time doing dw runs with 2 pwings yesterday. I have a roll top dry bag that I strapped to the back of my pfd. I was wondering if a mesh pack would be a better option but after reading this I think I will stick with what Ive got

I picked up one of these from Kathmandu at the sale. Works perfectly for both my 3 and 4m2 777 Skin.
No issues when the bag gets wet either. Very lightweight. And you can use the external bungie cord to compress the contents. Everything is secure.

It's smaller too than what it looks on the model. My PWs fit snugly, no space for anything else

Tbe bag on the photo is the Mission Pack and will take 2 PWs plus a phone and other small stuff in the front facing pockets. It's quite a large backpack.

so does this also have somewhere to stow the actual para you are using at the time in the front ? i assume so ? hook for harness line as well?

Recently I've been enjoying this running vest. Great for carrying a phone, electronic car key, sunglasses and an extra parawing (even a Paia) in the back. Rather than put the parawing directly into the back I use a compression bag with a screw valve to push out water and air before putting in the back. This vest is so light and secure and a cinch to take off and put on in the water. It's super small and no problem using with even the very large Manera waist harness. Avaliable at Anaconda and Rebel Sport. It's caller.. Salmon Active Skin 4

You can store two PWs in the backpack. It has front facing pockets for small stuff (like the running vest that Sheps posted above).There is not harness hook and it doesn't have a pouch either.

Ozone is also releasing a new version of the pouch called the "Stash Harness". This sounds like a great idea given that many of us use the Pouch with a hook, but it is not a good harness. E.g. mine is a bit loose and it rides up the chest.

Both these products from Ozone will sell like hotcakes I suspect.

yeh funny I find the hook sits a little lower than i'd want - and yeh she loosens all the time . still works fine but could be better for sure. Heard about the stash harness as well can't wait to see what they look like.
