As the Parawing is here to stay. Maybe it is time for its own Forum category outside of Wing Foiling. Would be great to keep everything organized.

I kinda like having it mixed in. I don't parawing presently but consider myself a potential future parawinger. I enjoy reading the parawing posts without moving to a separate forum. Guess I've always been more a lumper than a splitter.

I'm with you! Same situation and I'm keen to see how the early adopters get on transitioning from wing foil to parawing. There is so much crossover.

In fact I find it a bit of a pain to read about DW sup here and in the other threads under sup foil. I wish it was all in one place.

Maybe thread titles could have a prefix to indicate DW, PW, WF, SF, PF, FD.

If it doesn't have a separate category, then it should go to Kitefoiling. That is after all what it is..... NOT Winging.

Sorry but it's way more similar to wingfoil than kitefoil. Maybe we should just rename this category para wing foiling lol

agree with MProject04, there should be less categories not more. Let's take it further and have one super category for the whole foiling discipline.

How about "Short Line Kiting" or "Kiting with no downstroke"?

Kites are banned at many places due to safety for many reasons. Its a string wing and nothing like a kite for this reason alone. Kiters might like to think it is like a kite but in actual fact its conceptually another step further from a kite than a wing. The ability to totally disconnect from the influence of the wind. Its less about wind and more about foil and ocean energy and is at its best when completely put away. Yes i kite and wing but common like a kite.

Unlike kiters, at least the parawingers I've seen so far aren't constantly buzzing the launch point at 30 knots, jumping on top of you or riding past close enough to scare the ** out of people.

When mounting the board and getting going it's a lot like wingfoiling. When up and foiling around it's more like kite foiling then when you pack it away it's just like prone or sup foiling. Definitely a mix of alot of genres. I think people with wing and prone/sup experience will pick it up easiest. If you came from only kite foiling without ever doing wing, prone or sup you would struggle the most as kite foiling doesn't require the same kind of low speed balance, efficiency and pumping to get going.
I say keep parawing as part of the winging forum. Too many different sections will cause the threads to become less active. Just check the kite foiling forum I think the last post in there was sometime around 2019.

Whilst we're on the subject I think we definitely need to come up with some cheeky nicknames for parawingers. I mean kiters are tea baggers, windsurfers are pole dancers, wing foilers are windf#%kers! But what about parawingers? How about jellyfish tamers? Doona/ Duvet surfers? Trash bag surfers? String wingers?

For me it depends on the amount of threads and lively topics that are posted.
Parawinging is hot now, although very few people have actually ridden them (and majority of these are brand ambassadors of some sort), let alone ridden multiple brands so they can make a useful comparison. Therefore it feels like there's a lot of hyping and marketing.

I have no problem visiting multiple categories ; I already visit wing foiling, sup foiling and sup. If I look at those categories there's a difference in activity levels, with wing foiling being the liveliest category. If we expect that both wing foiling and parawinging will get a lot of attention, seperate the categories.
