From what i have read Aluula instead of Dacron reduces about 25% of the weight in a Kite.
But wings have a bigger percentage of Dacron i would say,so it may be even more weight reduction.

And stiffer and stronger so you can get away with a thinner, higher press leading edge/strut that will not self destroy.

Probably will be expensive but i think this wings could be very interesting.

They were also making Aluula bladder kite protos, and talking about Aluula ripstop material being developed.

I imagine next season we'll be seeing more new materials on brands, SLS on the next Duotone for example.

Yeah if the aluula hype is real it will be a big game changer especially for wings.

Its significantly lighter so better for luffing/floating the wing

Much stiffer and stronger so better grunt in the wing. Much more tear resistant less likely to put your foil through your leading edge (like I did the other day)

It also doesn't absorb water which considering wings are always soaking wet could make a huge weight difference.

I have been frothing on the aluula for kites for quite a while but yet to get my hands on one

We heard them throw the "gamechanger" term around back when they released the OR "One"bow kite in about 2005. They had a similar huge lead up time. They claimed it was "locked in a vault" for years (to avoid patent infringement). It ended up being an also-ran against the likes of better kites. At least they have a competitive advantage this time with Aluula even if they are so late to the game. I'll stick with ripstop and pocket the difference.
