I have now had 2 axis setups which have included new masts and 5 front wings all of them have been noisy the latest 900 is deafening am I the only one who has had so much troubles with Axis wings. These are not damaged and not old it would probably be a lot easier to ask does anybody have an axis foil that is not noisy. It puts me off riding them when I can ride a slingshot and a starboard that are very quiet I have tried every thing in the book to shut them up but no luck not even the donelson cup works. What is the secret help needed

All my Axis are silent and I have a lot of hem. Have always been one of the silent brands.

Did they hire some kooks in China after COVID?

Start swapping components to find the culprit(s). Start with tail swaps.

Yep I've already replace the mast and done a tail-swap it's definitely the front wing that's so strange I have never ridden an axis that is quite.. I can actually feel the vibration in my feet that's how noisy it is just over 1 year old. Definitely killing the vibe of silent foiling.

Edit: I took a while to post this and I see you have already tried the tail swap, so I don't know.

My first foils the 200 and 280 Go foils were pretty noisy, my Axis have been pretty good.
A couple have made a little bit of noise at times but a light sand on some rough spots or on the trailing edge using the Donaldson method quietened them, most are near silent.

It is usually the tail wing causing the noise, try sanding that especially the trailing edge.
As per the Donaldson method it will be the opposite side to the front wing that you want to put the angle on.
From memory it is the underside of the front wings but the top side of the tail wing.
It sounds like you have already tried that though I 'm just not sure if you tried the tail wing?

Or as DWF says try a tail swap.

I really like the performance instability of the 900 Axis wing but it's just the noise that is constant I have had 5 wings now all of them have been noisy I have had two 900 wings and they seem to be the worst of them all. And the age of these wings has differed by a year you would have thought during production that they would have picked up these issues there are no marks on the wings or damage when you look down the trailing edge of the front wing the thickness differs quite a lot from the centre to the wing tips I am assuming this is where the vibration is coming from.. if it was just one of the Wings I could understand but it's on all of them...

Only one of my front wings hums, the old 680 which I've never bothered sanding.
. Never had any issues with all my others wings or stabilisers. They are quite good at being silent.

I did sand them 45? and will see if it gets better but indeed it is annoying

Well, hum and buzzing can alert fish, mammals, and turtles of your presence so you don't skewer them at full speed. I dangle a loose leash astern and turtles 100' away look in my direction from the sound.
'19 Naish rear wings buzz like crazy too.
Sanded everywhere, now using '20 fuze and rear wing.

Thanks for the feedback I was beginning to think that I was very unfortunate with getting noisy wings but it seems it's not that uncommon I guess it's just the luck of the draw when wings are mass-produced and there are no quality control checks. You may or may not be spending on a noisy foil.... so I guess the moral of the story is live with it or go to another brand

Dam.. that's unfortunate both of them on the New Black series wow.. it definitely kills the vibe of silent foilling. Can you let me know the outcome of your sanding

Axis are really noisy, sanding does help but they get noisy again. My first Armstrong was silent as, it had quite blunt trailing edges. The newer 232 tail wing is very sharp and is a bit noisy. Like a skateboard wheel noise on the pavement. Better than the scream I got from my Axis every time I turned or pumped.
Andy Mac could never sneak up on me on his Axis gear but can now on Armstrong kit
Some people like the noise as it adds to the experience, they say
Noisiest foil I have every heard was a GoFoil, you could hear Jacko from the carpark 400m from him riding a wave, it was a big wave and he was motoring

Thanks for your reply that is a very interesting comments regarding the noisy axis wings. The performance is really good but the fact that you can't sneak up and anyone and hit them with your wing sucks?? I have two other brands of foils both are dead silence but then I return to my axis and it's like being chased around the ocean by someone with a 2-stroke outboard. I wish I had known that before I went hunting for my seconds axis setup. Should have Saved my money and went straight to Armstrong... All I want is serenity when I am foiling.

I did a parachute jump which the 120dbA noise killed my hearing as a result no noise from my Moses foil wings.
PS my instructor was ok he had plenty of gear .

Yeh my axis setup whined a fair bit. And so did the three other mates that had them. But honestly didn't bother me a great deal ? Not sure what the issue is really.

wonder if the dodad is sucking air and making noise. I foam filled my dodad and fuse cavities back when I rode aluminum and red fuse.

Today I'm on the carbon mast and black fuse. No hidden air cavity.

I have a fairly new axis 860 1010 460 rear combo. It is mostly pretty quiet. I get a bit of a low buzz at slow to mid speeds which actually disappears at high speeds which is a bit odd.

My old NP used to be quiet at lower speed but a loud zing at high speeds.

I feel like the hollow aluminum mast resonates and amplifies the sound. My 900 was the worst offender too.

You can hear Uni 190s 3 waves away. Axis had a low hum. J Shapes (kiting) hummed at all speeds. My current Armstrong 1250 is dead quiet. Given the sub sea activity of recent years I am happy to be not drawing any extra attention.
