I'm too new to post links, but if you check out the @winglifepodcast account on instagram you can see a clip where he interviews Armie at AWSI and the new boards are in the video at around 10min30sec. Armie says the new boards are available for dealers to order now and will be showing up in a few months. No other details..

Do the new Armstrong boards have an EPS core (similar to appletree)? Or is their core still soaking up water in case you have a ding/crack?

pretty much every production board in the worls is EPS core with the exception of appletree. Appletree boards are heavier though as a tradeoff for the closed cell core. Until someone invents a better core that has both properties i'm guessing the boards will be eps. If you ding 'em tape them asap then dry 'em and repair 'em.

Takoon, the direct-to-consumer French brand, who produce their boards in Portugal also use hydrophobic foam (TK Foam) in all of their hard boards.

See: int.takoon.com/blogs/news/takoon-foam

I own the Glide V2 4'10" 60L (int.takoon.com/products/glide-v2) and it is a wonderful board. I weighed it at 5.27 Kg on delivery (no footstraps).

I'd hesitate to ever buy another board that used EPS foam as wing boards are so easy to ding and then suck up water.

Takoon uses same tech as Appletree i undertand...indeed i think Takoon was someone maybe working for Appletree at some point and set up on their own / went a diff direction?

I know a few people who have seen and used them (appletree) - apparently feel v stiff. Takoon no so common in Uk due to Brexit = risk being a pain in the arse with imports but still do able and they have an ambassador here in UK.

i get the impression Frenchies absolutely love Takoon - saw loads in Fuerte

However, i also heard from a few sources that over about 80 litres, boards made like this are heavier than EPS?....which is a bummer for us who want a bigger board.

There are lots of Takoon wings and boards in the UK spots where I wing on the South coast. The import process is relatively easy now, even with the embarrassment that is Brexit, as you are invoiced by Takoon without any VAT and then pay the delivery company the UK VAT/duty when the package enters the UK.

I've just ordered the Ultra Glide 6'2" (80L) so hopefully will have it delivered in a few weeks time. I will update with the actual weight.

There's a video review of the Ultra Glide by a French Takoon ambassador who says the 6'0" weighs 5.8 Kg.

Sorry for the thread hijack!

There is mixed feeling about takoon, some are reporting anormal pressure dent on their glide v2 and v1 after sale said keep calm and dont worry, i had some issue with my wing v2.0 ( they have the v2.2 that fixed most of them) some were taken in warranty some not. It's not on par with appletree on the quality.
They have a nice range of board and shape tho , the price is above gong price both of these brand are raising slowly their price soon to be on par with regular brand.

A little narrower and a little longer so easier light wind / small foil take offs without all the length of a full-on DW board. Landing in NZ in about 2 months

Just ordered mine . frothing

I'd say quite a bit narrower 3-4" per new size and not longer for same volume, a bit thicker.

What size did you order and what are the full specs?

Incorrect on the heavier speculation and in fact the opposite in most comparisons. Had mine for a year, 3 dings, repaired the first and haven't bothered even taping the other two, 6 months on and still no issues on a board that gets used very very regularly.
