I've been out of action since January but getting ready to fly my Naish V1 Wing.
Waiting for my bigger foil wing order at the moment.
I've recently seen you guys flying a few V2 wings.
How do they feel compared to the V1?

More power.. stiffer.. more sizes.. and windows..

Definitely add a large Wing to your quiver. With two foils and two wings you will have a great setup.

Was thinking hard about starting out with a wind wing- then the whole virus s-show kinda put a crimp in my plans. Thinking about it again. I'm on axis gear mostly prone these days. Biggest wing I have is the 1000 w/ the 75 mast.... and a 6-0 SUP about 110L. I'm 90 kgs. My local conditions are mostly pretty light wind. Summer days we get lots of afternoons of 12-15kts. Now and then blows harder, but if I'm going to use the thing much- will need to work in that. I'm looking at it to ride in surf- hit a good foil outer reef and for downwinder. Probably try to head inland to some flat water- lakes that have consistent winds to learn.

So anyhow- w/ the above in mind- needing advice on which wing? I'm leaning toward a Naish s25 6.0, but have heard good things about the Slingwing V2 (6.4) in surf or maybe a Fone. Any feedback on wing and whether it's realistic to think I can learn on an axis 1000 and 6-0 SUP are appreciated. (been a long while- but I do have some decent windsurf experience)

Hi DavidJohn... I have a S25 5.3. Tried a WASP 6m today which had a ton more power than my 5.3. I guess you have a Naish 6...?... how does that compare to the 5.3? I have shocked at how much more power the slight increase in size had. Keen to get your thoughts.

You will be fine on the 1000 wing, 110L board and 6m wing.

Ozone has a different power delivery. Grunty...low down...punchy.... at the expense of smoothness handling wind gusts.

The S25 makes power when moving just a little, then comes on. It's a more efficient slippery feeling design. Advantage is smoother, better gust handling, better upwind. It feels like a more advanced airfoil, design wise. The S25 is more rewarding to the experienced winger.

Thanks for that! As someone looking to get started in a low wind locale- the grunty low end Ozone is tempting as I assume it would be easier getting it up on foil. It does seem the Naish s25 would be better over the long haul. So there is the conundrum eh? I've seen some tempting reviews on youtube regarding the Slingshot V2 in the surf. Super punchy low end, very light w/ cutoff wing tips that prevent dipping/catching. The Y handle seems a desirable feature as well. Unfortunately- don't know anyone who has ridden one.

You will be fine on the 1000 wing, 110L board and 6m wing.

Appreciate that feedback and reassurance Bigtone. The 1020 I know would be ideal/make life easier initially- but I've a limited budget and want to get started. Good to know that combo is at least reasonable/doable.

Hi and yes I have the S25 6m.. My friend June has the 5.3 and my 6m is noticeably more powerful.

It's the same wingspan but about a foot (30cm) deeper (front to back) across the whole width of the wing.

I love my big 6m and I'm amazed at what a big wind range that it has.. The new Naish wings are very smooth in gusty conditions just like DWF said.

I also believe windows are a must have.

No I haven't used my 6m in the surf.. I think if you use it to get out and onto a wave and once on a wave use the front centre handle letting the wing float and follow it shouldn't be a problem..

I also heard those comments but I don't think they were referring to a specific wing. The context was more that they prefer a 5 meter wing (even if they have to go to a bigger foil) than a 6 meter because the 6 meter hits the water more. Something most would agree with.

The 5.3m Naish works well surfing waves from my experience. I wouldn't personally want go any bigger for surf winging as it becomes a struggle to manoeuvre with the wing in one hand. The 5.3m seems to be the popular choice over here in WA currently, but we do get plenty of wind. I use axis 1000 and 101 at 87kg.

Hey baldy123..... What wind range is ok for the 5.3 in the surf with your setup? Does it work in offshore wind surf conditions like a windsurfer?

I (75 kg) am finding the 4.6m S25 Naish is my most used with Moses 1100 foil wing atm at a guess from 12kn breeze.

I can use the 5.3m in 10knots to 25knots in the surf. It has a very good range. At the top end of the wind range i drop down to my 3.6m which is also amazing.
The wing surfer on foil is way better in offshore conditions than kiting or slapper windsurfing, and I've done them all.
It handles holes in the wind and gusty conditions amazingly well when up on foil.
obviously you need to know your limits and judge the weather conditions.
most of the offshore points I go there is coastline downwind to wash into if it goes wrong or wind drops.
