Anyone weighed and compared the new S27 mast to compare 100% Carbon to C35 to AL?

I've upgraded to the 100% Carbon this year, definitely a more direct feel to the foil. I don't have access to an alloy to weigh it but I guess it would be lighter.
85cm Naish S27 100% carbon 1977 grams
85cm Naish S26 35 composite mast 2055 grams

Thanks...I'm on the preorder for the new fuse and and C35 85cm mast. However if it really is significantly stiffer and lighter, I might consider the 100 carbon.

You would need accurate measuring equipment to test the stiffness. All I can say is the 100% carbon feels better when riding. I chose to upgrade to the S27 system to move away from any alloy components on the mast and to eventually move to the full carbon fuselage that is rumoured to be coming.

I'm w you on that. And I'm all about an all carbon fuselage.

The new mast to fuselage connection is absolutely rigid. The mast section covered in plastic, stops chafing and the carbon fibre attacking the alloy fuselage .
The fit is snug, but the plastic allows the fuselage to slip on without too much effort. Then two M8 screws secure it. These screws don't need to be overly tight as the fit is so good. All screws M6 and M8 use the same size torx driver.

As stated above, then new S27 Mast to Fuse connection is awesome. Soo tight and stiff! To add a little to the Alloy questions.

The new S27 Alloy is a completely new extrusion and super light and stuff.

My Alloy 75cm is 1658g with the 2x M8 bolts. My C100/75cm is 1728g with the 2x M8 bolts.
The stiffness is comparable but different. It is kind of hard to explain, but the Alloy is nearly stiffer initially but has a consistent rate of stiffness as the load increases whereas the C100 "takes up" a little as the load starts (which may feel a tiny bit softer than the Alloy at first under a tiny load) but then it stiffens up as the load increases getting noticeably stiffer under big loads. I have been using the Alloy as my go to and am totally stoked on the feel, it is soo stiff and light.

My Alloy 85cm is 1789g with the 2x M8 bolts & My C100/85cm is 1984g with the 2x M8 bolts.
Very similar to above, but maybe with the "take up" gap being a little bigger over the longer mast. It is only minimal. The Alloy is very impressive.

Super impressive is the Alloy 65cm which I love for beach breaks and light wind DW'ing. At just 1460g including the 2x M8 bolts, it is super low drag, really light and incredibly stiff.

Yes correct. The AL is a longer chord.

With 86kg i am trying to figure out what to choose for the S27 85cm MAst: Alu or C35 (100% Carbon is out of the equation) ?
The only pro for the C35 i assume would be that is probably thinner and thus less drag? (17mm at the C35? and 19mm at the ALU?), or ist there something else?

Hey tintifax,

The Alloy and the C35 are the same thickness, a little over 16mm. The alloy is lighter and stiffer and the C35 is a shorter chord and yes less drag. The C35 I find very nice in the waves, I like the flex characteristic especially when hitting foam, it kind of dampens the wobbles out.

The C35 is also going to be stronger as far as the amount of load before deformation or failure.

Both have lots of positives. I am lucky to have all 3 in my quiver. I probably ride alloys the most as I love the light weight for DW, but in the surf my C35/85cm is nice (especially on shorter span foils).
