Hi All
Just looking for a bit of advice
I've got a Naish ADX which ive managed to pop the strut twice.Basically used the wing at the lake, brought it home, layed it flat on the concrete in the garage which is nice and clean, inflated the leading edge, then inflated the strut. It made a noise near the valve, then basically popped and deflated instantly.Just was wondering if anyone has any advice on what im doing to cause this? When drying the wing, should I just leave it on the ground deflated?

Thanks

I'm not sure of the ADX construction but was the wing ever hung or held by the front handle when the strut wasn't inflated?
The bladder can fall back into the strut if this happened, next inflation the bladder will most likely pop.

Not that I'm any expert but I don't see why inflating something that's designed to be inflated would be a bad thing to do regardless of why you're doing it. So it shouldn't pop just because you're inflating the wing to dry it and not to use it.

Does Naish provide any recommendations or guidance about what order to inflate the bladders in? I know my old brand (neil pryde) recommended always blowing up the strut before the leading edge. Armstrong doesn't seem to provide such a strong recommendation so I don't know how important it is.

My Wing says to inflate the leading edge first (1), then inflate the strut (2)

For deflating, it says deflate the strut first, then the leading edge.

I haven't hung the wing to dry from the handle ever, and I am fairly sure the strut has a stitch to hold the bladder towards the front/leading edge.

When i was down at the park, deflated the wing, folded it in half, e.g. so both the "wing tips" were touching, then rolled it up. So the strut piece does get folded in half between the handles when it goes into its bag. but that's it.Im still learning, been out about 15 times now and starting to get onto the foil, but I get the feeling im doing something wrong. The shop replaced the bladder the first time which was great, but now its happened again, i feel that im doing something wrong.

To me it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong at all. I think it would be worthwhile talking to the shop about what's happening but my suspicion is there's something about your specific wing that's causing an issue. There have been other comments on here recently about someone with a wing that had a small piece of metal needlepoint stuck in a seam on the inside of the strut that repeatedly popped their strut bladder. Maybe its something along those lines that's causing your problems.

Did they replace the bladder or just patch it and the repair popped?

I am fairly sure they said they replaced the entire bladder.
Which i think they did because the colour of the valve also changed. Its not like it was a slow leak or anything, it was a split of the bladder

My 2025 ADX NVision says the same.

On my wings the bladders wear out after about 2000 miles / 3000 kilometers from simple inflation and use rubbing on a very specific stitching point. I know this because after the first burst I pulled the strut bladder out on all my wings and identified the same wear point on them all. I could imagine that you have a sharp bit of fabric or stitching in there that is poking around and after a few inflations it pops. I'd pull that bladder and then feel around in there for anything that feels like it could be causing the issue.

I hang all my wings to dry by the leading edge handle. Anything new from Naish should have the strut bladder secured towards the leading edge and that's easy to confirm if you want to do it that way in the future.
