My main wing, Naish s25 5M is feeling a little depressed and needs to rest (slow air leak). Until I can fix her I was thinking about getting the Naish Matador. I've been reading that the Matador is a lot more powerful than the other wings (and a lot less forgiving in gusts etc).

I'm intermediate (I guess). I can manage to foil gybe almost every time, and I feel i'm pretty good at managing wind power either through luffing or pinching. I'm usually in 12-20 knots of wind and always wishing I could go out when it is just 10 knots too. I am 70kg on a 95 L board 1800 HA foil. I originally got into wingsurfing so that i could catch waves - though I am only now just getting into that for real.

Should I get the 5M? Or go down a size like everyone seems to say?

For that wind strength and your weight the 4m Matador should work well for you.. That's what I'd recommend.

The 5m would also work but you will notice the load on the arms once in the 18-20 knot range.. Great wings.. Shame you can't demo.

3 mtr Matador, I'm currently on a 4 and a 3.3 Duotone units. I'm 80kg on a 95ltr Naish hover and HA1240. Can the Matador replace both units, only really interested in above 15 knots for swell riding.

I think it would.. It's a powerful little wing and pumps you onto the foil early for its size..

Where are you located.. Can you demo one?

Based in North Brisbane, I'll see if Windgenuity have any demos planned up this way, Briskites is our local Naish distributor.

Sorry I missed your question.. but better late than never

That day it was gusting in the 10-20 knot range but with the wind direction being side-off and also the wind was coming over the hill in the distance it looks deceiving and is often stronger than it looks.. but with big holes in it..

I started using my 3m Matador (orange) and later changed to my 5m Matador (red) that you can see towards the end of my vid.. I love the Matador wings.

Now I have the 3, 4 and 5 Matadors/LT. Just added the 5m mainly for 'easy' light wind e.g. 10-18knts gusty river lawn mowing. If you can get going on yr 3m for the highest wind u want to hold on to your 5m, e.g. 18-20knts for me (65kg, 60L board HA1040 foil), you should be able to cover 12/13knts to 30+ on just a 3m and 5m. The 4m is if you want to be in the comfort zone in between or if you wing in very gusty/variable inland waters. Just my thoughts.
