I've recently learned to foil behind a boat with my Infinity 76 and now I've made the switch to Wing Foiling. I weigh between 70-75kg and I'm using a 5m wing and a 95L board currently. If the wind is 15+ I can get up on the foil but anything lower and I'm just schlogging around, burning energy as I unsuccessfully try pumping the wing and board.

I'd like to find a foil that will get me up on foil in light winds but that won't be too sketchy if it starts to pickup to 18kts+. I'm eyeing the Armstrong 2400 v2 as it seems like a great wing with low end range. I understand that this is a stable wing with speed limitations but I'm not trying to set any speed records. Right now I want to be up on foil so I can work on jibes and riding goofy. I understand that a big wing will have limitations but I'm curious to hear other's thoughts on what the limitations of this wing would be given my weight and board/wing. I imagine that the 1850 would be a better "all around wing" but with many days in the 10-12kt range, I don't want to be pumping unsuccessfully like I am now with a brand new, not-so-inexpensive foil.

As a side note, I will also take this foil behind the boat occasionally.

My largest wing is a 5-meter wasp. I use the infinity 99 and I can get started in about 12 knots. I weigh about 80 kilograms. If you bought the infinity 99 it would go on the same fuselage as your 76. The slingshot foils are the only ones I've used so I cannot comment on how they compare to any other ones. I enjoy it for winging. I prefer the longer fuselage for winging. I find it more stable.

The 2400 will be excellent in light wind. I see lots of guys that love using it behind the boat too.

You will out grow it as your technique for getting up on foil improves, I followed a similar path but with the Naish 2400 wing.

I'd personally just go with the 1850 as you'll get more use out of it long term. This is currently my largest wing and has a huge range for such a large wing.

Another option is to get the Infinity 99 for your current setup. It would be a light wind machine.

Large wings like this will be fine when the wind picks up in flat water conditions but if you're in swell and waves you'll have your hands full.

I am similar size and experience as you, except I started with SS Infinity 84 behind the boat and a 5.5M Armstrong A-wing. I picked up an Armstrong HS1850 foil (and 1250, not yet used) and have wingfoiled with it a handful of times. I don't know the exact wind speeds but it worked on relatively light wind days as I improved my technique: wait for gusts to fill the wing , pump a couple times to gain power, then pump quickly and ollie the board onto foil. The 1850 is much lighter with way less drag than the Slingshot products and handles speed more predictably. I can hardly wait for things to thaw out (or i go on another road trip) to get back on it.

I own Armstrong 2400, 1850, and 1250. Originally purchased the 1850, but soon realized it wasn't enough power for my local spot that averages 10-11 knots. Picked up a used 2400, and it has been my go to wing most days. I also prone foil on occasion when there is no wind, and prefer the 1250. Found the other wings give too much lift for the local waves. For lite winds, I use a 6.4 m slingwing. The 2400 and 6.4 m hand wing do a decent job of lifting my 90 kg body. The one thing I don't like about the 2400 is it's easy to stall at lower speeds.

low wind (7-8kn) with 6m - 2x pumping up and flying
high wind used it in 7-8bft with friends Echo 3,3m and 2,8m - also fine but it hits a speed limit

winging: tried 76 several times in high winds - but was no real fun for me (behind boat top).
winging: tried the space skate in high winds - no fun - behind boat best for me
winging: 99 does not fly much earlier than my 84 (with propper pumping technique) -> unnecessary for my weight (might be like my 84 for a 100kg guy).

Summary - 1 alround wing - for my 84kg -> infinity 84!!

At 75kg a 2400 wing is overkill,it is going to feel very slow rail to rail and very draggy as the wind picks up IMHO.

I ride the HS1850 from 10kt with 6m wing, i weigh 75kg too.And it behaves well with 4m and +25kt.I have even prone surfed it.Good wing.

Yeh extrapolating at 80kg on a 5m wing, even the 1850 takes say 12/13 knots. Well you can go lower but it can be a pain water starting. Doable but painful.

but if it's a legitimate 10-12 knots ... probably the 2400 on a 5m wing would work. Or you could get away with a 1850 on a 6m wing. On the 2400 On say a 6m wing you'd get over done real fast at your weight. Not Much margin between okay and "oh ****e" if you know what I mean.

but even a 1850 on a decent 5m wing might also work but you would be right at the edge of possibility unless your technique becomes really good. Yeh this is a hard one to work out considering you are gonna wing in such crappy wind.
but also consider what wing as well. For
maximum potential for easier water starts then a flatter rigid wing (more direct) would be the go.

so I'd say ultimately the dude above has it right.

Exactly the same for me coming from Slingshot 84 wich worked great so far - now on Axis 1150. Lift off earlier at under 10 knots with Slingwing 6.4 and much faster than the infinty 84@ hangloose - what rearwing do you use with your 1150. I have a 400 but think of going to a 440 to be More stable to practise tacks etc
