Well.... they've only been available for maybe two weeks?

I'll demo them but unless they've stumbled on some way to make a lower aspect wing glide better I'll probably add to my Axis system for a large wing and stay with Lift for the small stuff. Currently demoing the 10+ AR F-One Jam 1900 with it's 140+ cm span. The 220X is just not big enough.

What I like about Lift and this appears to have been applied to the 180 and 220X is that you will still be able to carve very tight turns and have a nice quick roll rate compared to the ultra high aspect offerings from the other major brands in these sizes. The difference in glide on paper vs glide in real world conditions between 13AR and 8.5AR, is more often than not undetectable in chaotic seas. I have the 110 and 150X with gobs of hours on them now. The 110 with it's 13.1 AR still has a nice fast roll rate and carves a beautiful turn in part because it's a sub 97cm span. There are some magical glide-y moments up high on the mast and just flowing up and over the top of the wave ahead at will BUT... it's considerably less forgiving of mistakes i.e. more sitting in the water scratching your head thinking, I did nothing to cause this... The 150 has gobs more power for pumping and you'd have to be really foiling lazy to come off foil with any amount of energy in the water. Most people confuse good glide with a good sink rate. With bigger wings of similar AR in general your actual L/D stays about the same but the rate at which you sink towards the water slows down. Feels like you're gliding further but it's an illusion, you're just going forward slower and sinking slower.

The 180 and 220X look like they will be real winners in the fun department. Possibly not the best tool for winning an M2O but it's capable of winning if the ultra high AR guys end up in the water too often. If the winner is whoever carves the best turns though...
