Hey everyone! With the Perth winter approaching, I'm considering taking a 2-month break to go for a winging trip somewhere in the world. I'd appreciate your recommendations on where to go for an unforgettable experience. Any suggestions on ideal locations with consistently good conditions during this time frame? Thanks in advance for your input!
Maui is my first thought.

Maui is great for wind when it's winter in Oz. But if you want to see a bit more, consider a trip to the Caribbean, with lots of islands that have different cultural backgrounds, landscapes, and conditions. You could start in Cabarete in the Dominican Republic, which has fantastic conditions for winging, and then check out spots like Barbados, Tobago, Bonaire and Aruba, and lots of other places.

Mauritius is a short flight away. Windsurfing, kiting Mecca. But it's very tidal (dangerous currents) with heaps of coral, so not sure how well it works for foiling.

Heading to Cocos Island in July. Water looks stunning shallow in places (tidal/coral). Been told to take a 40-55cm mast. Anyone been there to wing foil?

Been there to windsurf. It's super tidal. Some days lucky to get 1-2 hours because of the tides.

Maui has been a wind sports capital, since the inception of windsurf, kite, and foil. You could get ukulele lessons as well. Ride down Haleakala and maybe catch some south shore surf. A'ole Pilikia

Plenty of good foiling spots both wave + flat, Manawa is made for it, Pointe d'esne for flat water lagoon riding and a bit less hectic than Le Morne. There is a bit of coral about but deep enough.
its definitely very convenient from Perth, arvo flight, sleep in and you're on the water after a crepe and a coffee.

Madagascar craaazy wind, small gear. My first
time going this year, there is some solid outer reef wave spots. May not be worth it just to catch a wave, i reckon one eye is one of the best waves on the planet, but somewhere different, looks super interesting place eh

I was in in 2005 for the first time in Mauritius for wave kiting. Amazing, but every time I went back, more people were in the waves. Not been back for a few years but now you got wingers, kiters and windsurfer.

I just started to do some research on Madagascar, apparently, the north is windy but not many waves, whereas the south has some waves but a lack of wind.

What is your impression of Madagascar re wave and wind suitable for Winging? Looking for a second Manawa

Have a look at Nosy Diego on Google Earth, reefs to the south on the edge of the Emerald Sea. 3km offshore so boat support required, but you're closer to land then Manawa... and its cross-on, which may or may not float your boat, but a bit more relaxed than Le Morne I guess.

Agree Mauritius is getting a bit hectic, not as bad once it gets big and the flags go up, but still have to put up with the f-one sponno guys crowding you out for the insta
