Wife and I have been wing foiling for coming on 2 years. Looking to do a foiling holiday in late July. Any suggestions on nice spots around the world. Prefer tropical location with warm water and reliable wind. (We live Maui, so we are quite spoiled by the conditions.)
Mahalo for you suggestions.

Sanur in Bali
Adventure Sports Noosa
Fiji is usually good in July. NE side for flat water and strong wind. SW coast for better surf and still decent wind.

We usually run our Fiji trip in July every year but haven't done one since Covid. Will be back there next year we hope!

I pretty biased but I'll be back at the Fiji Beachouse very soon, this place is so chilled and well priced it amazing. Heaps of boats to take you to all the surf breaks plus insane fishing . Situated in the middle of the Coral Coast apx 1.5 hours from Nadi by bus. I've shot Living The Stoke 2 from here and tons of Family holidays my wife and kids just love it. you have to check it out , it's owned by a lifelong mate of mine . Great Kiting , Supping , Surfing & foiling straight out front plus epic downwinders. The bungalow accommodation is so cool with private outdoor showers. Much better Fiji experience than the big Commercial resorts and one of the few places with a sandy beach . Try and pick a time with Highs in the morings and arvo to extend your water time straight out front. Plenty of water for foiling on the near high tides.

Stay in Maui and pretend you're somewhere else.
Go to Lanai, Molokai or Kauai. No need go far.
Kirimati Island should be interesting.
Fiji has heaps of options.

Ok, now I'm torn between Bali & Fiji. I'm keen to have a holiday in June when it's cold & blowing Westerly here.
I've been winging since January- wind foiling before that. I'm going ok in flat water today or chop but my one session in small waves in the river was a blow-out to say the least. I need much better foil control to handle waves.

Is Bali or Fiji more likely to give me some consistent wind with fairly smooth water?

Thanks

I third Fiji ..less travel time,no crowds and less hassle. The wind strength is generally better in Fiji as it can be a bit light in Bali for days at a time. There are more options on the Coral coast before you get to the Fiji beach house too, Natadola beach is a deep flat water inlet and it also has some surf options out wide with great accommodation right on the water. Shangrila resort the next place also right on the water which also has a deep water inlet too and a high tide flat water section which are both awesome.
The other options is staying out on the islands ,Malolo has several places to stay and some really big flat water areas. You can also get a boat from Malolo to Namotu island from there for great surf options.

Since you're in the US (technically) I'd offer that you do something in unusual. Hit Cancun Mexico. It's now a wing destination from Nov til March at least. Tropical, fun culture (if you avoid the main tourist traps) and a stoked group of local foilers. Check out @foilero coulero and @maxico25 in Instagram. They will give you an idea of conditions.

South FL rocks (as does Texas and the rest of the Gulf, though the scenes in other states aren't as developed. ) Winging will open the world for "surf" travel in the next couple of years.

Thx gents,

So far 3 votes for Fiji, one for Bali, and one for Cancun, TX and FL.

Keep the suggestions coming. Anywhere in Europe worth considering?

Wife and I will "practice" by taking trips to wing on other Hawaiian islands to get our travel gear sorted out. Hawaiian Airlines flys boards for free, so we'll have to learn to pack everything well.

I've just spent a few days at Natadola. Wind ok one day but swells too big for me- beach dump 2 Metres ++.just found this on Facebook:

Foil Fiji. Just a quick report. We have just returned from 3 weeks on the little island of Nananu I Ra on north east corner of main island. This is a great location for intermediate foilers. Great wind. Foiled 17 days out of 18. Many days were 25 knots all day long. This is probably the best location for wind in Fiji. You can also Foil in any tide, which is rate in Fiji. No big swell or big wave riding in this location though, as reefs 7km out to see kill the waves. But there is a good mixture of flat water in side and 1m wind chop further out.

Access to island is easy and cheap. 3hours bus trip from Naadi FJ $ 15 to rakiraki, then 15 min taxi then 15 min boat. Accommodation was excellent at MacDonald cottages: $95 for self contained cottage. Very clean and quiet. Whole island is super quiet and uncrowded.

We also visited the coral coast and found this busy, expensive, and unsuitable for foiling as the coral reef is almost continuous.

I'm currently at beachhouse Komave. Not much wind at present on South coast. Can only foil inside reef here one hour each side of high tide. Outside reef is possible once swell drops.
