I've seen that video before and figured the elasticity in the line would make it hard to quickly unhook, interesting you say it works so well Dwight.
I make mine with 4mm dyneema sleeved in polyurethane airline and I like the way the weight of the tube lets me swing the line to hook in and then also allows the line to drop out of the hook super fast. But getting slapped in the face is a pain! I tend to hook my back hand thumb through the line while I'm pumping.
Those were my thoughts too, but after riding with it, no issues. Easy in and out. No big deal to a former windsurfer.
My experience was the opposite, when things got hectic it was hard to get out quick. I also didn't like the difference between stretched and unstretched lengths - too short when not clipped and too long when weighted. Flat water was tolerable but in waves and chop no thanks. But I'm not a former windsurfer so maybe it's my problem.
The other thing I like about the plastic tubing is it makes for a nice rigid line. Run on a mini-boom, it swings in and out so predictably. A little flick of the wrists and you're out. Or back in. The Ozone line is light and simple but does not perform as well for me. YMMV
