Firstly thanks to all those who have been providing information to those of us later in the foiling journey, it has been a great help
Me, 55, 87 pies, been wingfoiling for a bit, still very much a beginner but starting to wonder on what next equipment wise
Currently riding a Konrad 6'4" 138l with Konrad SS1900 foil
Wanting to hear whether I should go smaller board first or different foil, or both?
Thought is to go to a foil which has more room for progression as the Konrad only has a HA foil to progress to
Not wanting to get too involved with swapping foils & gear or shimming etc as work & wind prevent me from getting out too often.
Intent is to get winging in waves & downwind once I get more competent & not at risk of being blown to NZ
Been surfing, SUPing etc for 20 odd years
Keen to hear from people who have progressed from the Konrad gear

Demo as much as you can. At your stage, a smaller board will make a significant difference. Then beg/borrow foils to try on the smaller board.

I agree with Hilly definitely get a smaller board first. At 87kgs a sub 5'8" 100L board should be a good easy option that you can progress with and keep for a long time. I wouldn't go much bigger at your weight. Heaps of options in the second hand market in that size.

I went from a 6'5" 130L foil sup to 5'4" 110L wing board I am 100kgs. The performance of the smaller board is a big step up and +10l is a good easy volume at my weight.

I am 55 and 95 kegs. Have recently gone from a 6'7" 125L Fanatic to 5'10" 110 L Naish S26. Very happy I didn't go smaller as we have been having a lot of squally conditions where the wind has been going from 20+ knots to less than 10.
Also got gong hipe 5'3" 110 L cheap and I can slog home on it too but is a dog to paddle.
The Naish has a more surfboard style nose than fanatic the fanatic was better at high speed touch downs, haven't sup foiled Naish yet but have paddled it in flat water and it was easy.

How good is this forum, with the Aussie built board thread reignited I saw the Carbonco details, spoke with Mitch who was a great help & will call in next Friday to check out the Vulcan 97l
That's if I can wait that long

As an update, I picked up a 97l Carbonco Vulcan board yesterday, with floods etc it took a bit longer for Mitch to build
Absolutely delighted with the quality of the build & was good to talk through with the shaper about sizes see how he makes them
Only an initial wing session in crappy wind (had to try it out on day 1) but wrapped with it, bit of a struggle to balance etc to begin with, part of the learning journey but once up & foiling stocked with the feel

Need to get balance & standing up refined then thinking of the new Cabrinha foils if I can demo in
