This maybe of interest for some added endurance if you cant get out much.
The magnetic connection looks pretty clever and solves the reconnection problem easily...

Not sure a quick release is really necessary for this application. I wish someone would make a highly tensioned harness line that actually went out of the way when it wasn't in use. This one has some tension, which is nice, but it still appears to dangle around too much. Until then I feel like a lightweight, minimalist, uncoated line is the best option - at least it doesn't whack around too much.

Fidlock makes really cool stuff, but I feel like it gets overused in applications like this where it isn't necessary.

Yeah they said that about Windsurfing and kiting and Ice Wing speed racing in the beginning and look where its evolved to..
The line is for cruising out back - increasing their endurance factor, not everyone has the strength to muscle it all day long..
Each to their own..

No harness, no need for a gym membership.

I'm not anti harnesses, but that particular system seems overly complicated to me. When I grab a handle I don't want to get a handful of bulky plastic and bits of bungee line in the process. I like to keep things nice and simple, but that's just me !

I'm not anti-harness either, just concerned about accidentally garroting myself in a tack.

Yea I've seen that contraption and it's way overly complicated. I just want a 3 foot piece of tubular webbing with a very elastic piece of cord threaded through it that contracts the webbing to 12-18 inches when not under load and gets it out of the way. No buckles. Very simple. I'm just not crafty enough to rig it myself but someone who builds leashes should be able to make this.

Agree - something super simple that gets completely out the way when not in use.

This thing seems to be the closest thing to something I'd pay for because it orients the line making hooking in easier, and the stretchy line means it gets out the way when not in use

I can't speak for the magnet device, but I bought that impact vest in the video from forward wip and instantly returned it. Was very disappointed with the quality. I have an older forward wip impact vest that was worn out (the old black and orange sailgp one) and it feels like a premium product. The new "wingfoil vest" is just garbage. It's a $5 west marine pfd with a zipper pocket and a harness hook. Just the company milking the wing foil hype
