St Andrews Inlet really is the "basically Alabama" part of Florida.

It also is home to Florida's best novelty wave, that does it's thing properly maybe once a year?

Ah crap. The word is out.

Florida surfers have called 20 of the last 2 good swells there.

The entire state goes to that "secret spot" for hurricane swells.. and they don't score. Super windy, super chop, wrong swell direction, etc, etc.

But when it's golden it is golden.

I have scored St Andrews State Park on a hurricane swell. Was amazing. Challenging shifty throwing D-bah bowls. But I have never seen that infamous, far-better "secret spot" a few hundred yards away properly doing it's thing.

The life of a Florida surfer ain't easy. And on that coast, you never leave surf in front of you to look for surf... Because the swell is usually shrinking by the minute.

But when that coast is it's on, it's ON.

It was 30-40, and cold. Pretty fun sesh but had to break out some rubber I'd already packed up..to early. I was surviving on a 4.2 Strike but I'm motivated to buy a 3.0 now. ??

Wayne our local Drone Guru and Wing Ripper always does a nice job. Agreed, the music captured the mellow mood and stoke. We still have a few more weeks of the marine layer season. It'll be 25 on land and only 9-12 G15 on the water ??

I'd love to try St Andrews at some point. Looks like I could handle it on a mellow day (very limited ocean riding experience).

This definitely doesn't qualify as Riviera, but it is FL, and it is winging from an RV park (or Caravan park as they say down under) on the Indian River, so that should at least qualify as red neck. A couple a manatee induced faceplants and a narrow channel to squeeze into which livened up some otherwise mundane (sloppy out of practice from endless injuries) flat water winging and kitefoiling

collision, but no way. Not even a shadow visible with the murkiness of the water. I'm assuming a foil hit is a minor bump compared to a prop strike

About 10m max to exit one transition and get around on the next one between the camp ground and the
island before you smack bottom. Turn fast or impact!
