WooHoo. Just checked, and my new TV takes the Red Bull TV app!

Thanks for that DJ. Hopefully Red Bull does some good winging stuff soon!

Anyone given it a run yet? I won't get a chance until the weekend at earliest!

Watched it last night, pretty much a Robby Naish history lesson and well worth a look.
I love Laird Hamilton's perspective on pretty much anything he talks about.
If you have a smart tv watch it on the Redbull App

Geez I really enjoyed that I like at 1.04 when Laird says when you get your first flight on the foil forget about surfing and all that it dosn't matter anymore foiling is it haha classic Laird who's been foiling for more than 20 yrs
A great motivational movie about life and what is there for the taking
I have a nice grin when I just think about what I just watched

I just watched it on a rainy Melbourne afternoon.

There's enough surf action and Robby Naish history to make that part of it entertaining.

It's much more of a very personal exploration of a super athlete coming to terms with his humanity and to an extent his mortality. It's quite serious, or as serious as you can get in thongs and boardies and a backwards hat.

The "Oscar nominated director" that specialises in Cinema verite is a bit of a giveaway.

The extras are well worth a watch.

Saw it last spring. Old time windsurfers not seen in 20 years were there.
Sunset S was there.
Best part, Robbie was there.

that was right before the pandemic shutdown here... kind of strange to think that that screening could have been a super-spreader event. that was really cool to have everybody come out for the screening and fill up the theater... lots of faces I hadn't seen in a long time.

the movie is great... love Gerry Lopez's wisdom

Seen it. I nearly quit in the first minutes, I thought it was going to be just a promotional praise of the "King Robby".

But the movie is much more interesting - and emotional - than that, I'd say a bit like "Bustin' down the door".

I am happy for Robby that we see him evolve during the 5 years of the movie. If he has kept his attitude of "If you are not the best you are not a man" he had at first (and before the reality check of the injuries), he may have had a lot of mental issues coping with aging later on. It would have been interesting to have a discussion with him and Gerry Lopez, with so different ways of thinking...

Kudos to Robby also to show his struggles while learning foiling, most pros will hide always their learning phases (like Robby apparently did for WInd, Kite, and SUP)

I highly recommend reading this interview of the director, quite enlightening:
"I said, "Who's Robby Naish?" Which may have been a sign that I shouldn't do a film, but the more I was totally transparent that I'm not a sports guy"moveablefest.com/joe-berlinger-robby-naish-longest-wave/

So who's the woman with Robby in this video?

I guess he didn't have a prenup signed before his last marriage (he should have talked to Paul McCartney beforehand) -- apparently he had to sell his home on Maui as a result of his divorce. Yes, I would be bitter too! A wing (even the ones he rides) and a prayer just aren't good enough when it comes to protecting your assets from an estranged spouse in a marriage that's gone south.

Loved the fact it was more about life. I think all of us older guys can relate. He didn't hold back on the ups and downs and pros and cons of a surfer's life.
