Has anyone had the chance to try the new Phantom-S 940?
According to f-one it should work like a smaller Seven Seas.

Hi Charlie. Its basically the same as last years phantom 940. I dont know the seven seas, but would say its just a small Phantom (in terms of aspect ratio / feel) with a thinner profile for more speed and glide.

It's close in size to the phantom 1080 but with more glide!! I did not tried the seven seas yet, really enjoying the 940, it surfs river swell amazingly well. i'm not super good at pumping, for me it is harder to link waves to
waves on small river swell than the 1080 while
pumping, but as soon as it catch energy, it
just glides!!!

Hope some 940 info helps someone .. I demo'ed the 940 a few weeks back. Nice stiff setup 940 + XXS x C250 and 85cm Ali (blue) mast. Weights in approx 3.4kg. First, impression .. easy to dial in, no idea .. just stuck it middle of the demo 75L Rocket board and it's spot on tracking straight and level with a 4.2 Strike in 15-18knts. Pretty fast and feels in control all the time. What I like best is it's freakish ability to hold in tight fast carving jibes (which weirdly I can only do properly on my 'bad side' goofy riding switched .. I suck at jibing on my good side). On way out, toe-side super easy and no weird torquing or bump offs. So, this setup was top #1 of my "want to have" gear but it's a little too premium for my budget and I handed over my $$$ to one of those Kiwi companies

Strike 4.2 v1, Rocket 75L, Phantom 940, est. 18-19knts

Rode the 940 as my main foil last year. the 940s is the same foil becuase now there is a 980 phantom too. The 940 is slightly higher aspect ratio and slightly thinner profile than the standard Phantom range. I also had 1080 for light wind but would choose 940 as soon as I coud as it feels very nice to ride and faster. Refined balanced ride and carves beatifully, handles whitewater well and very predictable foil, BUT at 73kg I found I had to be on my game to tack it as it needs some speed to stay on foil. In the context of the FOne lineup now the 940S is a surf foil but its also a great freeride and freestyle foil. I downwinded it alot too but now have eagle which is better for downwind and freeride IMHO. If I wanted one do-it-all foil for travelling the 940 would be hard to beat.

Just swapped from the kool aid to FOne.

I mostly wing a 4"0 x 44L board and have paired it with a 1090 Eagle, XXS fuse and 210 stab. Don't discount such a big foil, as I find it more lively than my previous 700cm foil, and far out it points hard upwind. I'm pointing 30* higher and faster than everyone on the water.
I'll get a 790 Eagle or a smaller Phantom, very much enjoying the change!

I've been using the 790 Eagle/xxxs fuse and dw210 stab it took me a while to get used to and first few sessions I was a little unsure that I had made the right decision. Now I've started to get a better feel for it and it really is magical in the right conditions, super fast with a longer carve and crazy glide.
I was really surprised with how little wind it needs to get going , I'm light at 67kgs and it's pretty much my go to foil at anything over 13knts (just a little more effort / technique on the low wind pumping to get it going)
I still have my 1080 phantom/ s fuse and 275stab and am definitely going to get a smaller phantom but unsure of size at the moment maybe the 840 s as it'll be better for jumping and tighter turns.

I've been riding the 940 for a while (83-88kg ). This foil is very user friendly!
Easy lift characteristics, relative low stall speed, ridiculously fast but never out of control.

This foil is well behaved no matter what conditions you throw at it.

The other day I was flying along a buddy of mine, better foiler, 20kg lighter on a 55L board
with the Armstrong 725. I expected he would blow me off the water speed wise but that
wasn't the case. Did I say this thing is fast

I noticed the same thing coming from the ART series, 799ART is 1.5 kph faster than the 1099 Eagle. For 370cm you would expect a much larger difference.
Either-way, the 1099 is as playful and nearly as fast as the 799. Amazing range in my eyes.
