Tried it in the 83L 5'6 with the 850 sk8 v2 in 17-23 knots. Did not like it at all. Felt corky and sticky. More than that, just felt like something was not in balance with the board. So hard to get the board to release and there was so much stick, that as soon as the board released, the foil blasted up.

It was a rental, I played around with the mast position, but did not make much difference. I changed it for the "old" orange one in 75L and changed the front wing to the 750 sk8 v2. The conditions stayed the same, but that set up to released way earlier and more predictable than the cross-over with the bigger front wing.

Maybe the board, mabye the rider. But it was not a match and was happy to go back to the older model. Normally ride a 46L board, so I know how to get boards out of the water.

I had a similar experience until I moved the mast back farther than I would do normally, then it performed great ????

How far back did you go with the mast Mike? Did you notice what number you were on?

Overpriced Chinese board. Just saying. All these manufactures need to spend more time building better boards for what they are charging. Get a board made in Europe or Cobra factory.

Depends on your foil of course, but I'm on code 970/720 and the back on my mast plate is on 1/2 for the 980 and one for the 720

Given it's narrower and thicker than the equivalent Rocket I appreciate it might appear corky but I haven't experienced any issues getting on foil. I really like it.

What foils are you using and if F one where did you find the best mast position in the box?

I'm using F-One SS1200. Currently at #5 but given I've only ridden the board 3x that could change, but for now it feels good to me.

Quality problems with the board. Easily cracked. I spend my money on better (carbon) construction. Carbon board cost the same as the fone boards. Have Btw 4 old fone board but no more.

So funny! I had several f-one board and had 3 that was from cobra. 0 issues with fone all cobra had issues with cracks and fragile rails.

Cobra is not the bastion of quality for sure. manufacturers get to specify what they want so there is good and bad Chinese, good and bad stuff from cobra

regardless of what the manufacturer wants you still have mass production issues in all sorts of ways.
I've spent 30 years going inside all of them and you can't bag out china or cobra or say one is better.
as to carbon - how is it better? It's fragile and easily damaged. Stiffness and tensile strength are good but a full carbon board doesn't make sense at all except in pure racing where u have to win at all costs. almost every board out there needs another layer of glass around rail apex / top but everyone here reckons a 3.5kg board is great lol

I've tried the same size rocket crossover (5'6 w 850 Sk8 V2) and liked it alot. Its easier to get up and doesnt feel really any different in terms of swing weight up in the air compared to my 4'10 Appletree Jazz (90L) or my 5'4 F-One Rocket wing (75L). Didnt feel sticky at all, so cant relate to that, it was really glidey and easy to get going. I was out on the 90L appletree Jazz with a larger foil (SS 1000) the same day, and the crossover with Sk8 was easier to get up. I was seriously considering buying one, but didnt because F-One states you shouldnt jump this board as it is an ultra light weight construction. I didnt think the board really was that corky, but I was about 100kgs naked when I tried it so that might be why. 85L is about perfect for me for a light-medium wind board.

Oh yeah, I think that's a pointless comment. I think Fone has a reputation to uphold.
