Is the Duotone SLC going away? I don't think the 2025 model has come out, lots of innovation on the Unit, a new wavesailing model introduced, ... Anybody hear anything?

It was one boom for all wings. With new wings you will have to buy boom/(or handles) for every wing.

The new booms aren't expensive so not a huge imposition but it does mean the wings take up a lot more space when stored.

I think the storage issue is a non-issue. Still takes up a lot less space than my windsurfing sails

It has been much easier to squeeze three wings, foil and board in a bag along with one boom. The Slick takes up a lot less room than the old Units when travelling. Guess the new Unit can have one set of handles and screw them on/off for a session but the Slick system was very easy to use. One of the downsides was the Slick boom not fitting in the inflatable board bag which is sorted with new Unit handles.
I am looking at North Shiftlock Pro wings rather than Duotone partly for this reason as I will be changing my quiver later this year.

Unit handles/boom are meant to be removed only for travel. The North system is less finicky, but I don't think anyone attaches handles/boom each session.

The Slick system is great and provides the most direct connection to the wing (and the SLS boom is really thin), but can't hold it in a pistol grip at the front.

The Unit boom/front handle also has the pistol grip at the front which I prefer to the slick boom

So the Slick is history... Does anybody know what else they will push on market in spring?
New handle with pistol grip is great. Slick boom always was annoying. At least the most when selling the stuff. With 125cm u have to pay more for shipping in Germany.

So they just announced their wave/downwind oriented wing, the Float. They have a 16:36 long video dated 2/12 on their youtube channel. In the comments they are clearly moving away from the Slick. For an intermediate that sounded like me they recommended the Float even if no waves. More stability in gusts than the Unit. Booms are about $100 and typically will stay attached unless traveling. Bag is sized to accept the wing with boom attached. I won't miss having another loose part, the boom, when using the Slick.

The Float is phantastic. Extremely stable when flagging, even better than the 2024 Fone Swing. An absolute dream for waveriding. The moment I flag the wing I literally forget that's it's there, doesn't have to be managed. In a straight line it's quick, maybe not as fast as the Unit, but the difference doesn't matter in waves. Very stable and forgiving in gusty conditions. Surprisingly easy to tack, requires just minimally more force than the Unit to move it overhead. Super grunty, easy to pump, gets up very early. All in all a really nice wing for the waves. No windows though.
