Good idea? Will there be a D/LAB version?

Saves 3min at most, maybe less, adding another point of slop is a terrible idea.

Somehow brands keep making these and they never catch on

I prefer things to be as simple and strong as possible.
Some neoprene in the tracks to keep the nuts in place, and it takes very little time to mount the four M8 bolts.

Having the bolts/screws well organized, and some nice Wera stainless steel tools, improves the process as well.

With smaller and faster foils, drag also starts become a thing.

These Wizzard hats are still serving me well after a few years. Simple and fast enough.

Maybe we should go back to Tuttle. Stiffest possible, no drag.

I am waitng for an F4 R-board with deep tuttle, and a 101cm mast. Hope to have it late next week.
It has for sure its benefits. But it is not for everyone. The flexibility with the track mount will for most people be more important than the benefits with tuttle.

Have had a board with tuttle before as well. And it is really a stiff and light way of connecting board and foil.

decent idea this one. always rather tighten with a spanner than a torque screwdriver.

I haven't left tuttle. waaaay stiffer, no drag, lighter, only two bolts.
looking at all these QR plates, it seems like all the designers never really considered how the lift of the foil applies leverage.

I've used wizard hats w year now as I use a base shim on my wing boards- super happy with them. The bolts swivel so with a shim, tilted base/bolt you have full/flush contact inside the tracks. I carry a little stubby wrench in pocket of my impact vest- works great.

I had a windsurf tuttle foil and hated it at the time for "lack of flexibility" in positioning. But on my wingfoil board, once I found the spot in the tracks, I never moved the foil. My foil's stab cannot be shimmed. In theory, if the board and foil are from the same brand, the foil can go right in the middle of the tracks and fine-tuned with stab shims... OTOH, the current race king is Chubanga and it uses tracks.

With a Tuttle connection most of the force is thru the rear bolt?

I was referring to the QR plates not considering leverage.

However with Tuttle, most of the force is carried by the tuttle head itself into a tapered hole. very little load on the bolts.

^^^ yes and thus why head shimming is not so great. Then its no longer a taper lock / interference fit and u can tear bolt heads thru.

To me the weight difference is irrelevant. My 16" track install is 1kg before installing but being so long and in a pvc block it gives you so much opportunity for making a strong connection.

Carbon DT is 450g but requires a lot more laminate on the board to truly be as strong i believe. So the real difference is maybe 200-300 lighter, if the board is built to same standard, for a tradeoff of less tunability.
300g difference right on the centre of lift is irrelevant unless you're getting paid to race it.

Great idea. I use this duotone system as it came on my second hand demo kit I bought a few months back, works well, it's tight & no slop, no issues, just time saving to date. Have had a load of positive comments from others.
