If you wish to free wing the ocean bumps then you will need a higher aspect wing. I used my nl160 at first and was reasonably successful. I then tried the P180 which is just amazing for free winging the bumps in my opinion. Very low lift for its size and glides and pumps very well. It could definitely be too big to handle when the wind is over 20 knots and then the NL160 works well. The PNL185 is the same wing with some very subtle improvements. They both turn really well on the bumps for their given wingspan.
The rs1300 looks to be the next refinement of the P180 and PNL185. These are all downwind specialist wings. The RS 1150 will be the next smaller step down for down winding but will be very good for waves also . The is some info on the Australian Gofoil website but the RS foils are not officially released till December hence the scarce information.
You may find a P180 second hand at the right price.
If I am winging waves then NL160 and NL130 but on the bumps P180 is a dream.
65kgs and paying full price for my gear.
Thanks a million for the in-depth response. I have heard about the P180 having issues with hairline cracks and gofoil are discontinuing them. That said I am tempted to take a punt on one as they sound great. I am concerned that a P180 will be overly slow to link bumps? I have a GL180 that is crazy slow in comparison to my NL130. Do you know how does the P180 compare to the GL180 for speed?
PS - I'm staying away from the NL / PNL moving forward as I pretty much tore myself a new one on the NL130 winglets when practicing toeside tacks. Not pleasant...

Cheers,
