It's a game changer in that it's a high quality mast you can use with virtually any brand at a relatively affordable price. It is however, not going to be the absolute highest performance mast on the market (and Kyle/cedrus is clear about that in the information and marketing about the mast)

As far as Tucker goes. His reviews rarely contain useful information beyond showing close ups of products on camera. Can't exactly blame him. He represents one of the biggest dealers in the market

I think it very much depends on where you live and what you are after.Incl sending and taxes the mast with 1 adapter cost in the Netherlands 1075,-That is more as an KT carbon and aprox the same price as an Axis power Carbon. For the axis masts there are also pleny adapters...so I like the idea but due transport and taxes its imo overpriced in europe.

Why is everyone lately using "Game Changer"? How is this going to change the game? It is an aluminum mast that will cost US$750 (forged with adapter). Code UHM 80 cm Plus mast is US$1500. Don't think high end users will downgrade. Maybe a second mast that is shorter for torsional stiffness. Great for guys using multiple setups, if you don't mind swapping adapters. I do think it is a great product and innovative. Not really a beginner entry price. Durable? Yes. Looks cool? Yes. Heavier? Yes. Will I get one? Yes.

I think it's cool that someone has invested in some new technology at the lower end of the market. We've never seen an altered extrusion like this or a welded sealed mast and I think it's really cool that Kyle worked to develop this.

Bringing more to the game, I was impressed by Appletree's tuttle box style mast reveal at AWSI, it appears to solve several difficulties in one fell swoop, only problem would be to make the change over

Win win as nice have a option to CFHM masts$$$ only thing I worry about is dreaded water ingress on fuse adapter with bolt on fasteners but Kyle sure has it sessed out best mast news in sometime if you ask me

I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a good enough athlete to need the utmost performance from a very high end mast. My body is way too heavy to worry about a few grams in the gear. I am interested in foils from more than one brand. I'm getting one.

Tucker seems pretty genuine among internet shop reviewers. He does point out areas of concern that most don't, and doesn't just schlep the most expensive as the greatest. I'm 100% anti aluminum foil components, but with a such a glowing review I'd consider a demo for winging if my NoLimitz mast fails and given the current asking price of USD$1600+ for a UHM.

Haha. Ok. He does have a lot of chickens, ducks and other animals on his property.

MACkite should have the Cedrus Forged masts next week. Anxious to get my hands on one.

Early orders have already been delivered. Hoping to get a demo next week and will report back.

It's a fun drinking game. Anytime someone says "game changer" take a drink. Gwen is going to be hammered.

I bought one of these and have had it for a couple of weeks, with it arriving within a week or two, with no import duties/gst on entry to Australia, which can be a bit hit or miss.

One thing I will say is Kyle has been a legend, helpfully answering my questions and sending the mast to post about half and hour after I ordered it, even though he was late for a holiday, which I thought was pretty awesome. It's really nice to talk to the creator of the foils and it's obvious he's super frothy and knowledgeable. I was desperate for info and reviews on this before it came out, so here's my thoughts, which I've put on the Progression forum as well.

- The forged is the same thickness as the Carbon versions (16mm), 1mm thicker up top (20mm) and I guess the same thickness down the bottom as they all fit the same adapters. The chord is a bit deeper than the Surf, but still pretty short. I won't be suprised if the general drag and performance of the Forged is pretty close to the carbon versions as a result of these dimensions.

- I'm super lazy and leave my gear together at all times, chucking it fully set up in the back of the ute, but I'm doing the right thing with this mast, taking it off and rinsing it down, as I do my wetsuit. It's not the massive drama I was imagining.

- Looking at it for the first time, there's one thing to be aware of. It's made out of extruded, forged metal, so it's not as beautiful as a brand new carbon mast. There's a few little impressions from forging and welding splatter from the manufacturing, but that's to be expected as it can't be hidden in a top coat of epoxy like a carbon mast.

- It's absolutely rock-solid; quite industrial looking, with really amazing tolerances, with the adapter lining up perfectly - its actually crazy, you line up the pegs and push the adapter in and the air pressure pushes it out slightly once you let go, so it's a really good fit! On the fuselage side, the adapter fits the Unifoil wings better than anything I've used before. Coming from a Carbon mast with M6 connections, bolting on the baseplate with the M8 feels bombproof.

- It's amazingly stiff in torsion, WAY better than my NoLimitz V1 (kinda obviously) but also the Axis Power Carbon HM. I've been learning to DW with it, which hasn't given me much time on foil, but I've wake theived off a jetty a few times and it's shockingly stiff, with movements to and from the foil translating really directly. It feels almost a bit squirrelly as every input does something, and you feel how much carbon damps things down. Takes a while to get used to, but it's really nice.

- Speed wise, it feels good. I wouldn't say it's faster or slower than the NL. I'd say it's easier to control, so you can ride it higher on the mast. I've had it on some tiny wakes, into the wind, and it's been sitting there happily, so I think the drag is low.

That's a bit gushy, but I'm stoked with it so far!

Well said and completely true for a large portion of most wing foilers. We love being obsessed with gear even with mediocre skills, and the suppliers are happy to indulge us!

Yeah, there's a bit of noise, but not as much as that. Mines more of a squeezy sound you hear every now and then, at certain speeds. I'd say it would depend on what foils you're running etc, but mines not too bad. I've just made some flexible 3D printed shims for it, just to see what that does. For me running Unifoil wings, it's still quieter than the constant whistle of an Axis set up.
Vibration wise, I've felt nothing at all. The only feeling I can describe is one of directness, where there's nothing damped by the mast, just very fast response back and forth.
I think it'll be hard to talk some folk away from carbon, which looks bloody cool and does a really good job, but for the others who want a cheaper mast which performs really well, and don't mind being a bit different, this thing is sick. I took a punt on it and I'm stoked.

I wasn't happy with the flexing of my Slingshot Phantasm carbon mast, so I decided switching to the 84 cm Forged Cedrus. Today was my first session with it, using a large 2200 foil on a light?wind day. I'm 210 lbs, and I didn't feel any flex or vibration at all-so on that front, I'm really satisfied. I did notice a pretty distinct humming at certain speeds. From what I've learned, the pitch and intensity can change depending on depth, speed, and the type of foil you're using. I was also told that adding a pad between the mast base and the board can help reduce the noise.
Following is from Cedrus Website "My mast whistles and hums at certain speeds, is this normal?

We have found through months of testing that certain foils can produce acoustic and haptic feedback when paired with Evolution Aluminum. Due to the thin walls, high stiffness, and hollow channel that does not fill with water, the mast can transmit whistles and hums at specific frequencies with certain foils. We have learned to appreciate this feedback, and found that it can be mitigated by changing ride height, angle to weather, speed, or wing loading. Rider weight, board size, and other variables like water density can affect the response. It is a complex system dynamic. All other aluminum masts are held together by screws, mounts, and doodads, and typically fill with water, and will therefore not transmit vibrations or acoustic energy. You can try a thin rubber pad between the board and mast to reduce the noise level"
