Has anyone tried the new Skinnies? How do they compare to the Progressives when used with HPS / ART foils? When I check youtube videos everything is either a "game changer", "unreal" or "literally, out of this world" :-)

Any unbiased feedback from non-sponsored riders would be much appreciated.

Hey JD have a mate here in WA uses his Spitfire 900 & Skinny 55 for prone,tow,wing in waves reckons it's a one wing quiver.He's ripping.My 1100 Spitfire still goes great winging with the progressive stabs.He's 110 kgs like myself.

I use primarily a 999 or an 899 for winging and just got a 360/45 skinny stab. Previously I was using a 350p as my only stab.

The Skinny has been a big upgrade for me. I was looking for something with more speed and glide but without giving up much low end or pumping ability. I also didn't want something that was too much looser than the 350p. The 360/45 definitely ticked those boxes. It is a little looser feeling than the 350p but not by a huge amount. It does however offer heaps more speed without any noticeable front foot pressure building up. This has in turn made the ART wings pump a lot better for me as I am able to keep them at a higher speed more easily. Glide is better with the increased top speed as well. So far I haven't noticed much difference in the bottom end vs the 350p.

Not sure if its a "game changer" but I was certainly impressed with it. Doubt I will ever use the 350p again.

So for me it was exactly what I am looking for, however, if you want something super loose and carvy maybe a smaller progressive wing would be better.

I'm very interested in the new stabs. I wing the 1201/999/830 all with the 375P and am loving the ride. I'm especially loving the 1201 right now given how control and glide, I took it out in light winds and big swell and was amazing. I didn't think about speed=better pumping but it does make sense. Should I look to switch to the 360/45 to get more pump out of the wings? I'm 97Kgs.

I think 360/45 will be a good upgrade / step down from my 375P.

I recently bought a 362/50 to replace a 375p paired with my ART 999 for winging. I already had a -1 degree shim on the 375p to make it faster. As expected, the skinny is quite a lot looser especially at slower speeds but manageable. At higher speeds it is more predictable, has a smoother ride and definitely feels faster (still collecting data on this one). Bottom line - its awesome and I'm keeping it. I'm 85kg and was averaging 23km/h and top of 35km/h). For me personally I wouldn't go any smaller than the 362/50.

Have you tried the skinny with a -1 shim .. ?

Dominic Hoskyns does a great review on YouTube comparing both and I am using currently HPS1050/425P I also have the HPS 880, with the one stab. So following all the advice gone for the Skinny 362/50 to try and get more glide out of the front wings. I weigh 86kg. It's on order and hopefully try it out soon. Love the look of the Spitfires but can't quite see the need to change the 1050, I am not an aggressive winger in the waves and ride swell mostly.

Don't forget about the 420 / 380 speed stabs, that are a like a cross between the progressive and skinny but more stable (tips).

I have been wondering about the Skinnies vs Progressives debate too and been using the 400P for 18 months on HPS1050 and ART999. I recently switched back to the 420 Speed that I'd been using before I got the 400P. I have to say I really like the 420Speed again - it can be 'locked in' for speed but is quite loose and skatey when carving around.
If I've already got the 400P and 420Speed - what would a 362/50 Skinny offer an intermediate level rider for the money that is going to be a game-changer?...

I was previously using the 400p for sup and wing with the art 899 1099 and hps 980. I now have the 362/50 skinny rear and I am liking it. Similar feel to the progressive wing just a lot less drag. It's got nice grip on the back foot for turns a lot like the progressive wings. Between the 400p and 362 skinny I haven't noticed much difference in turning or pitch stability. I still find the 362 skinny to be quite stable and easy to use. It's just a faster more efficient version. It feels like it has opened up my quiver a lot. Significant improvement in top end on all my wings. It probably takes a bit more to get going and has a bit higher stall speed but not a crazy difference.
Previously I had preferred the progressive rears over the flat speed rears as they give more grip in the turns. Now I prefer the skinny as it's got great speed/ low drag but similar feel in the turns to the progressive.

Ive got the 400p, 275p, 652/ 50 skinny.
Are you using a 400p with the long SES fuse?
The 400p turns fine but that long fuse is not going to help turning.
A crazy short advanced fuse will transform your turning. (it moves the mast forward by 40mm as well as liven up pitch sensitivity for the better) remember to balance the board with the new setup properly.
The 400p and 50 skinny are very similar in pitch control, the skinny being more slippery and faster top end.
The 275p is notably easier to turn than the 400p and requires more pitch concentration.
I would try a crazy short advanced, or ultra short standard with the 400p you already have, you will be amazed how alive that big front wing can feel.
I run the 1300/275p/crazy short advanced as a super light wind setup.

Winging. I have been flying the 359/40 with 1201 and 1051. This tail is fast and loose. Great pairing with both, esp 1201. I lost a bit of lowend glide on the 1051. The looseness is insane on the 1051. I can skid into hard carves. Pure ankle steering bliss. The dagger like shape terrifies me. Already poked it through my ding. I wear all of my armor with the 40. Should probably put my ear guards back on helmet. I ran it with crazyshort og and it was good fit. Ran it with sillyshort advance on 1051 with 1 deg shim and then .5 and both worked nicely to dull its reactions down a bit. I prefer my KD marlin for low end glide.

What's a good skinny tail to use with a HPS930 for winging?
Currently on a 400/60 tail. Looking for more speed without losing manoeuvrability.

Nice! Planform Looks similar to my KD Marlin, which is also a super good all arounder.

What I like about this rear stab is what you can't see in the photo. Slight upturn at the wing tips and concave in the top of the foil.

Approx what weight are you and what size HPS and spitfires are you riding ?At 97kg I've been riding a HPS 1050 with a 425 p and have just added a 900 spitfire - am looking for a smaller rear wing and this 333 may be it.

For those who have really sized down their stabs, do you compensate by pushing the mast forward? I've been using the 375P as a "golden mean" size on everything from an HPS830 through to a 1201. Thinking of going smaller but I've noticed more nose touchdowns when powering upwind winging so feeling like the front wing is overpowering the stab, hence considering moving the mast forward to compensate.

I ride heavy as well mate. My go to front is the Spifire 960 and occassionally I use the HPS 980 or my 880. I also use it with my HPS 700 when I am kite foiling. I tip the scales at just over 100kg. I was using a 400 ha rear Axis stab, but day and night between that and my 333.

I ride the 840 with 325p and the 1030 with 375p. Both advanced ultra short.
I also tried the 1030 with 325p, but with high speed wave riding, I had a challenge with the pitch stability.

The 2xx are incredibly tiny and usually used for big wave towing. Try a 300 or 325 as the smallest for wing.

I was riding the HPS 1050 and 880 with the 425 Progressive, and during the summer I think I maxed out the 1050/425 combo. Bought a Skinny 362/50 and wow with the 1050 a game changer, turns amazing and gets up on foil super quick. I am 86kg and for me it's great. Now looking into putting the advanced short with it.

I'm really interested in getting the 1401 for dockstarting, and mabye replace my other wings with 2 spitfires (prob 960+780) later.

Does anyone have a comparison between the new Skinny Stabs and the old HA stabs?
Right now, I have a 420 (occasional winging and dockstarting) and a 460 (dockstarting).
Is the difference really that big, or will I be fine with the old ones? Is there a skinny you would recommend to replace both of them? Mabye the 362/50?
(I also have a 350p which I use for winging all the time. really enjoy this one - not really thinking about replacing it)

Right now I'm using red short + black ultrashort (both non-advance)
