Was lucky to try the 819 for an hour the other day. It was a very playful and predictable foil. My daily driver is the AP 851. In comparison the 819 felt almost as fast, but with quite a bit more turny. Nice glide and pumpabillity. Thats ok. I weight 75kg. Wind 10-14 m/s. 3m duotone unit v5. I felt it needed a little more speed than the AP851 to get going, but not much. That might be just a slight different technique required.

I've been using the ArtV2 819 for my past 15-20 outings. I use it for winging on the ocean, surf and flatwater. It's now my only foil. It's fast, turns well, handles tip breaches and whitewater OK and seems predictable and stable. I'm 75kgs, 75 litre board (Duotone Sky), 90cm ALU mast, 325 Stab, and can get it going in a 10 knot gust with a 5.5m. A friend has the same, he's 80+ kgs and gets it going on 10 knots+ with a 6m. I was surprised given it's only 647cm2. The glide is really good and has a stall speed that's not too high, but in light winds (< 11 knots), I might come off the foil at the end of a tack or gybe. I'd say it has a bit less glide than the ARTV1-899 and a slightly higher stall speed, but so far I'm measuring higher average and top speeds than the 899. Super happy with the ArtV2 819.

I am about your size and also have a 75l board and wing mainly on the ocean, I currently use the 999 V2 and the SF 840, I like both foils but miss the glide of the v2 when using the SF. I am looking at a smaller v2 (879 or 819) but I am concerned about the stall speed. Do you know how the SF 840 compare with the 819?
Other option would be to change brand to access different foil design with more early lift/lower stall speed, such as KT, AFS or Code. Thanks.

I haven't used any of the Spitfire range, so I couldn't make the comparison. I guess the best thing to do is try a demo if possible. To me the the stall speed isn't really that high, I can go pretty slow and stay on foil.

I have ridden most of the Axis offerings. I recently picked up an 879 and have 5 wing sessions on it. At my 83kgs, the 879 is probably comparable to your weight on the 819. I have it on a 90 hm mast, skinny 40 and ultra advance fuse with 68L 6'1" midlength. It does everything great. Gets up fairly easy, turns amazing, goes fast. It does not feel like what I thought a 790cm wing would feel like. Very comfortable and intuitive. I will say the 899 V1 is the complete opposite of this. Nervous and twitchy. My only problems are the lack of glide and higher stall speed. This probably is more related to my weight. I spent a lot of time on 1051 and 1001 Art pro's before. Granted these are larger foils, the glide was much better than the 879. I get a little better performance with each session, so there's hope. I got it with high winds in mind but now it is my everyday wing. I also have a fireball 1000 which comparatively gets up earlier and goes slower and faster. The intuitive turn smoothness of the V2 is the biggest difference. FB gets a little nervous in turbulent water. I did pull out the spitty 900 the other day for a parawing session and was elated with how fun to turn and go slow it was. At my weight the V2 939 is probably more appropriate but I got the v2 used for $500US. One thing I keep reminiscing about is that any of these latest wings are only as amazing as how much time I put on them. I spent 1.5 years exclusively on AP 1051 and had it soooo dialed. I recommend finding an appropriate size of any of these and committing to it for 1 year and you will rip on it. This is likely more important than buying a bunch of wings.

I've been messing around on the SF 840 for a year or so now. As a long term winger with intermediate skills I find the SF 840 to be really good. I've also got an Art V2 879, which I'm still getting used to. The SF 840 definitely has more pop to get up and going out of the hole and a slower stall speed than the 879. Some good points raised by martyj4 and broVan, as a very average winger myself I started 3 years ago with the png 1010 then moved to the hps 930 12 month later, then again 12 month after that moved to SF 840 and 6 month ago to the v2 999. It took me a while to get used to both the SF and the v2, but persisted and now I feel quite confortable with these foils. I am at a stage of my progression where I feel it might be time to explore smaller foils, but as someone who has only ever tried Axis foils I am curious about new designs or at least designs that appear different from what axis is doing. A lot of rider here in WA have switched to Code and are super happy. Obviously demoing is the way to go but its not always possible. I am keen to try the 879 v2 now though.

I agree. It takes time. After about 10-15 sessions, 1001 became by far my favorite foil in 13+ knots. Once you get used to it's sharpness, it is hard to change. It takes more pumps to get on 1001 than on 939 but 939 is SO much slower. I have to ride 939 very hard, always pushing the foil to go faster. I probably need more time to spend on 939...

939 turns better than 1051 but comparable to 1001. 1001 gives the fastest, most radical tacks. I am not sure if 879 would be much better in turns than 1001. If not, I do not see the point of switching. I wish I could try 879...

I would say that the 879 compared to the 1001 is way more intuitive and settled, especially in chaotic sea states. The 1001 is a rocket ship but for me was a bit nervous and twitchy in big bumps. The stall speed on the 1001 is higher too. I was way more stoked on the 1050 than the 1001 but thats probably more to do with my 85kgs. I have been on the parawing more so the tiny foils are a bit more challenge to get up. Think I found a dude who wants to trade my 879 for his 939. That will probably be better for the PW.
