Well I took the risk and bought one. First ride on it today. Wow, drives upwind as good as the smaller sizes. Wind picked up and I went from nicely powered to hanging on but it still behaved well enough to make it back to the beach to change down. Stoked!

I have the 4.7m @ 90+kg and that thing gets going pretty early but is a big pwing to pack down. 5.5 must but a challenge to stow.

Yer it's bigger if you're used to packing a 3 or 4m but I'd rather be getting out on the lighter days and put up with the little extra packing down. Just fits in a ozone belt

thanks for posting mate!
stoked it fits in an Ozone belt, be easier with a toggle + bungee closure.

yeah, been plenty of time since the smaller Frigates were releasee to trial-and-error all sorts of design tweaks. Any major tradeoffs in durability and top end to make it easy to launch in the light stuff? Line length scaled up, or same as 4.7?

Oh I haven't measured them but I think it's the same bar and line length as the 4.7 yes I confirm. Looks the same outline. I am using a KT super k 90 litre and a code 980S, I am about 78kg

Is it the same material or a lighter upgrade than smaller frigates? As one of the few complaints/peevs I have of my 4m frigate is the material is a bit on the heavier side say compared to my BRM but that said the material does hold up pretty good as I have quite a few hrs on it and still holding up well for pulling a 100 kg rider around Lol
like to hear more about the 5.5 frigate as there is absolutely nothing out there that I know of review wise

Parawings in the 2-4 m range work well-they're relatively stable, go upwind efficiently, etc. However, I believe the larger sizes (5-6 m) are where more innovation is needed. .... large parawings are tricky, tend to collapse (lines should be longer), and need to deliver stronger low-end power.
