I was part of the Team involved with some of the testing of the prototypes and the final product. It's a no-fuss, clean design with the aim of minimising wetted area by not using deep concaves and channels etc. A lot of focus was spent on optimising the flattish rocker for early release and gentle touchdowns. Clinton Filen (the designer) basically started with an extremely flat entry rocker and increased it, prototype by prototype, until we felt we had soft easy touchdowns without pushing too much water when wanting to accelerate onto foil. Volume distribution is really good allowing you to remain in your riding position when not on foil and for easy re-starts.
I enjoyed the feeling of reduced swing weight compared to longer boards which makes pumping and turning more efficient.
Board is made in Cobra factory and is very very solid with an excellent thin, light, grippy deckpad. Part of the test regime is to never use a boardbag and just let it bounce around in the back of my van....no cracks or leaks so far.
Hey Peter, great info. Were you involved in the development of the Phazer as well, also a great looking board. Interested in any feedback you may have comparing the two. Thanks
