Finished up my review on the Ultra 750.

I'm also pretty stoked on how the review format turned out. It took me a bit to find my writing style on gear reviews but I'd say this is my favorite and I'll probably try to emulate it down the road. Let me know if anything is missing!

I have the Silk 1050 and really like it for its stability, performance and ease of use. I'm considering getting the Ultra 750 and starting with a parawing.

Funny timing on your ask!

When I got it my primary quiver became Silk 1050 and Ultra 750 and I've had a blast on those two foils. I also did my intro to parawing days on those two foils. The Ultra was nice because the low end is really good and then if you have legitimate bumps you just glide forever. It takes a bit to tune into the glide on the tiny days, it's not like a big enduro.

I say it's funny because I recently started looking at selling my Ultra 750 and made it available in the Gear Library. I've been riding the Silk 850 a bunch which, of course, doesn't have anywhere close to the glide but has better turns. As my skills have gotten better at linking swell on medium aspect foils on big days I've needed less glide and have relied on the maneuverability of my Silks to put me in position. Mind you, I'm in the Gorge where it's endless steep beach breaky swell which is gold for the Silks.

I'm not desperate to sell it or anything. I am actually waiting for the Ultra 41 tail to come available and once I slap that on the Ultra 750 perhaps I'll want to hold on to it a little longer? Hard to tell how the flavor of that foil will change with a new tail but who knows, maybe I'll decide I gotta keep it!

I have ridden it with the following tails in order of span from widest to narrowest:
Ultra 41 (on order)
HA38
Mako Glide 120
Cloud IX 157
Silk 142
Silk 132

It's definitely stiffest in the turns with the HA38 tail. However, it also felt well balanced with the HA38 tail. When I went shorter and shorter on tail span it became twitchier and twitchier. Before I had purchased the Silk 850 this didn't bother me at all. I had a blast riding it ridiculously loose with those little tails. Now though, when I go back and forth between the 850 and the Ultra I find the undeniable flow of the Silks to feel incredibly natural and the wildly loose pivot of the Ultra 750 with tiny tails to be hard to transition back to. As such, I am preferring the ultra back on the wider, flowy tails, which is why I ordered the Ultra 41.

I've heard of people using the HA40 and just chopping it down a touch to maintain some surface area but get the span down when they want to loosen it up. I'm so hesitant to chop gear though. I assume that after I do that it has zero resale value and can become a $300 mistake!

Enjoy the Ultra 750 Silk 1050 combo! You're going to have a blast on those two kits and will be shredding on the parawings for sure!

So not a light wind foil for my application. Looking at using it predominantly with a parawing. I'll se how I go, as I am a parawing noob.

For reference: I was using the Ultra 750 in about 21 knots and higher with the BRM 2.3m Ka'a and found it to be a nice match when chipping in on swell. Board was 5'11"x20"x77l Sunova Carver which is about -10l to my 86kg. I'd probably want a 3m if I was going to target 20-30mph.

That's some great advice. I'm going to be doing something pretty similar. For my 95kg's I'm going to use an Omen Flux 84L = -11 for my weight. 5'11 x "21.5". I'm starting off with an Ozone Pocket Rocket 4.3m and then when I get the hang of it - hopefully getting the 3m too.
Going with the 4.3m to help with more power for learning and also help with getting out through the shore dump.

Awesome review. Agree with this:

VS the Enduro:
AFS released the Enduro just after AWSI this year and I got to test it at the local AFS day just before AWSI. I rode the 700 in full throttle conditions at The Hatch and had an absolute blast on it. In my opinion, after a demo on a great day, the Enduro feels like the perfect middle ground of Silk and Ultra. Turns are more intuitive than the Ultra. Glide is better than the Silk. The ability to break the foil down for flight will be useful for travelers.
All three of these foils are phenomenal. I prefer to have a quiver of foils where each is at the extreme end of performance spectrums so a Silk/Ultra combo is perfect for me. If you travel and are more into owning a single foil that performs at a high level for a wide variety of scenarios, the Enduro will probably win you over. The Enduro line also has 4 sizes to choose from where the Silk has 3 and the Ultra has 1. IMO, no matter what you pick you can't go wrong.

I went with the Enduro and have the 700/900/1100 they are excellent foils. Got a custom 130 flex tail from Crisp www.instagram.com/p/DJZI_dAzziZ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I wish AFS made a smaller wave tail 110cm2 or 120cm2.

I have the 900-1100-1300 and 1600 on order and totally agree with Hilly@Hilly, I havent seen the Crisp tails, but the Kparts from also Bretagne loosen up the E900 a lot

I'm working... very slowly... on my tail article right now and agree there are some very cool options out there. I specifically like the forward swept designs that come from the Mako Glide/Carve series and Cloud IX. They feel like they shorten the fuse a touch because the tip pivot point is moved forward a cm or two. This is why I'm also excited about the Ultra 41 tail. It shows me that AFS is exploring the forward swept design and I really love their build quality and stiffness above all others.
