way too windy,choppy + swelly for me.
radical compared to lucky bay.
close to 30 knots i think.

was using a 5.7. today
too much down haul overpowered and no chance of jibing but flogging along untill uncontrolled drop in on swell resulted in mast breakage and walk of shame 1km back to car park...
hahah lucky i didnt hit the sandbar on the downwind speed run back from penguin island else it would of been body breakage....
love it.......

intelligent people were running 4.7s......

Not sure but there was someone during the walk of shame popped down onto the beach and asked if i needed assistance.as i was dragging all my sh1te back to carkpark.
dont think he was a windsurfer but i truly thankyou for you caring nature and the offer its great to see people still care..
if i wasnt on a weight loss program i would of excepted....

we were all powered up on 4ms! I could have done with a 3.7m.

There were a few of those gusts (see peli point 6.04pm chart) that hit 30 knts and my 4.2 was getting over powering...

How nice is it to use small sails for a change....

Peter IMHO when things get this crazy try longer harness lines and lowering your boom a bit.

Yesterday i was sailing off Bunbury in 25knts on a 7.2m. It ws scary. I let my lines out(thats why ajustables are so good) and lowered my boom. It was amazing the control i gained. Ended up having a great training sail for the LOC.

Give those long lines a go next time when its really windy. They make a huge difference!

I actually raised my boom a little more than normal.

I found that by moving the mast food forward a few inches took me from fighting the beast to dominating it.

I am sure there are some more experienced sailors here that can explain why

When you move the mast foot forward in the track the boom will be lower

well, there you are then!

"Too windy" is an oxymoron.

Peli Point was hell fun, 4.7 and 93 ltr FSW and was well overpowered at times but that combo for me was bloody exhilerating

tried to kit up this arvo turns out the boom clamp is broken aswell ;-(
when i looked at the boom it was six inches under the break The boys said that it broke at the boom clamp i think they were correct and the boom slid down the mast because i was still harnessed in.

i have the top half of a small diametre 4.3 maui sails mast if anyone has a use for it
Unfortunately im not going to use it even as a spare considering the dynamic loading and stress that's been put on it already.
pm us if you have a use for it if not its going out in the bin next week.

anyways ill replace it with new but have questions about the imcs on some of the smaller diameter masts especially for heavy weighted people like myself.
I weight 88 kilo and if i snap the next one ill think ill go back to the larger diametre masts as i have not had a problem with them before.

that windy day last wed i was sailing with my larger 28cm fin on my small 80Litre board. have since put back on my 25cm fin.

a 3cm smaller fin in strong wind like that is way more controllable + way smoother ride.

downside in lighter wind less bottom end and hard to point!

never forget the way dan eng went past me going out to mark, like i was a junior girl.

even he was getting overpowered later on.
