probably been asked before but where do people think gets the strongest wind on the river (or sea..) in an easterly?

I have been going off the top of applecross because it allows you to get right into the middle but I have seen people to the east of Pt walter/melville - does any kind of sweet funnelling effect happen there?

Have also tried pt walter around the spit but its very gusty and seemed stronger at applecross....

Can you tell I'm getting desperate!!!

I find the problem with Pt Walter is if you sail in the eastermost carpark in a NE there is a big wind shadow on the northern side.

But you are kinda restricted to northern side (like Peli Pt) in a SE and the southern side if it is NE. On the southern side the Burke Dr park is a long walk to the water and it is shallow on the inside, so u really have to go to Pt Walter or close by.
Majestic Pt is a good compromise for E or NE

Woodmans Pt is a good option (but not if it is due east), and make sure all your gear is not going to fail as next stop is South Africa.......

Pt Walter east carpark does get some funnelling effect but the runs are short due to the wind shadow of Pt resolution.

If starting at Pelican point go upwind and toward the city - nice and flat and less wind shadow and confused chop than the run toward Attadale.

Majestic point gets you into the same area but the wind is cross offshore so if anything goes wrong it's a long walk/swim.

In NE, Burke drive Attadale, is good but the shallows are wide and very shallow unless a high tide. The kiters beach is a good launch spot not too far from parking.

peli points the spot to go imo but the problem atm is the rather large amount of weed hanging around on the bottom, so it's no problem once you get into deeper water but to try get upwind off the beach with a pointer and a big clump of weed is pretty hard, still it is as consistent as an easterly gets and the flat water gybing in near the point is incredible

majestic pt is where I have been going off, just didnt know the name and describe it very well!

will check out some of the other spots mentioned - weed isn't a problem as my fin is only 15cm and a weedy :)

Has anyone tried the lakes and dams on the scarpe ie Manaring or Leschenaultia lakes or Wungong Dam etc. There is always a noticable wind strength differance on top of the Darling Range during the easterlies.

I left from Peli point the other day. Tacked out to the middle and run from city side down across to mellvile. Found it to be gr8.
The easterly wind is can be abit all or nothing sometimes.
