Palm Beach Caravan park is mostly permanent residents. I However I have seen people
camping there. But it is the closest caravan park

West Oz kite and surf advertise backpackers accomodation which is directly opposite the pond. No idea if it is any good.

My wife stayed one week at West Oz in 2011 before we moved permanently. Very nice people, privileged location and affordable price, although at the time they were doing renovations and the place was a bit nasty, not sure how it is now....
