I've been kicking around the idea of going to Esperance around september/october and I have a bit of experience in the waves, is it worth bringing my wave-sailing gear at that time of year?

Maybe a bit early for any decent sea breezes but they have beautiful beaches at every angle so there must be somewhere to get a sail.
