I got Hoops @Nude to fix my nose for me.
I tried doing it myself but ended up having to turn to the professionals
Top job, and reasonable price.

I must say you look much more attractive now, and the shape of it really accentuates your eyes.

Very handsome

cheers for all the pointers and fun comments as ever. I've took it to Katana in Osborne park as he's seems to known what he's doing and got v good recommendations and seems busy with other board repairs so will see next week. Never thought of Nude guy as just assumed he would be too busy.
The board has to be repaired regardless of cost as wife got it for me for my 40th as a surprize.

Maybe expected for a surfboard place but you said you had good reports beforehand

What have they done wrong? Just out of interest...

ripples in rails on repairs, repaired surfaces uneven on deck surfaces, cloth weave showing in the dips on flat surfaces, deep sanding scratches just painted over, dirt under the paint, graphic's half painted over, mat paint instead of gloss, crap paint match, over spray on everything, paint spilled over pads, even fins painted over. excess filler just left over rails, pads and deck. black strips repainted in places and then not in other places. Just total lack of care, professonalism or respect for another persons property.

I spoke with the guy and he understood my complaint but seemed naive to profession pride. He offered to sort it but when he was telling me how he would sort it, he just displayed less understanding of materials.

I hate to slagg a local company off on forum and i spoke with him about my disappointment before putting forum but if thats their product and they genuinely think that acceptable and charge what they charge then I don't want other people to have to accept such poor service.

Very disappointed as i explained this was an important board as a gift from wife and we discussed the paint matching and that i would lose a couple of graphics etc. He had 3wks to repair so not rushed.

not sure what to do at moment. I don't want anything more to do with the repairer. Its hopefully just cosmetic and the structural repairs are sound. He did use vacuum bagging etc so no reason not be be strong.

I've spent a bit of time cleaning crap off and polishing the over spray off fins and other areas. paint doesn't come off deck pads. The board was in excellent condition before the damage.

I use to be a auto paint sprayer in my much younger years so I'm thinking about picking up a compressor & gun and having a wicked new paint job.

That sucks.

One of the repairs was on a surfboard fcs fin plug, plug had been cracked like most do, so his repair was just to stick the fin in the box (FCS FIN) blob on some solar resin, looked like with his finger.. this is the best bit, no sanding of the board,at all and also resined the removable fin into the box. I grabbed to fin and gave it a bend, half of the resin just lifted off the board.. And the guy payed $50 for this repair..

I have fixed boards on the beach better than that..lol..

I have seen a repair to a board he made that was good, but i just got the impression he don't give a rats A## about anything he didn't make.. Sad...

Peguin,

I reckon the repair is probably solid enough - if it is a rail job or not between mast track and rear footstrap (?). If that is the case, given your background you'd be able to rub it back then fill and sand a compound curve and have no waves in it.

Then give it to PC Simpson to paint as he has like a bazillion colours and does bloody good work.

That would make the best of a bad situation?

If u need an expert opinion re what to do now, suggest you take the board into Steve Stratfold and ask his opinion. He's given me heaps of good obligation free advice re repairs and the like.

Seen his repairs before "rough n ready" usually structuraly sound, finish is usually a bit rough, he's a busy man.

+ 1 for James Hooper at Nude

Totally smashed the nose of my board in a big rinse up north. Whole thing split horizontally right around the nose - prob 30cm of split around and up onto the top deck. Great repair, and Jaz did a great job of painting it up. You can tell it's been repaired, but considering I thought it was a write-off I'm over the moon with the result. Fast fix too - 5 days or so.

the katana dude is pretty rude in general, i went for a chat about maybe getting a surfboard shaped and got a less than warm reception so I left. So this discussion doesnt suprise me.
He does 1/2 price repairs for his surfboards, then overpriced crap for everyone else. Sounds like a great business plan to me

Nothing is ever exactly the same again. Regardless of who repairs it.

My Futura 122 came up a treat. Nothing rough about it. I know where I will be going again should I need something fixed.

Take your board to Steve or James..can't hurt to see what they can do.

Hi ,
I'm not doing many repairs at the moment , got a bit on right now. Maybe later if I need to.
Steve and Jas both do a great job so give them a call if you need.
Just for the record I don't think its cool that people are bagging out Katana on line. It's between Penguin and Katana and no one else on here can really say they know the whole story so try and keep it in check.

Cheers, Hoop
