.....at the sheer stupidity of some organisations ???

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/15569436/barge-still-stranded-off-cervantes/

That barge would have left Henderson with the operators fully aware of the storm that was predicted last week but they chose to leave anyway. I assume they left with the wind and swell already high due to the fact they only got as far as Cervantes.

The inner harbour was closed for almost 24 hours (from memory) and I wonder what sort of risk assessment was done to tick the boxes for the barge to be allowed to depart. The Gorgon project may well be over budget and behind schedule but I would hope there is some sort of investigation done on the process.....

I'd say the risk assessment was done by recently graduated from uni 21 y/o kiters.

Dude: We have to like tow this barge thing up north man

Man: like a mega 2500km downwinder dude. Lolz.

Dude: right on, man. That's fkn sick........ "Gangnam style before it was mainstream" kinda sik. Like, never doen before man. 2500km downwidner hee hee

Man: fk, be srs Dude. we r at work now, not talking ourselves up on seabreeze. Now - the barge thing sounds cool but the swell is up

Dude: I saw on seabreeze soem sik mo'fo kited like fully 6m swell or some shizit man. the barge is liek 1million tonnes or sumthing so it is not like it can boost ROFLMAO

Man: I reckon it will be kewl. Just do it and like, if it doesn't work out we were gonna quit after 6mths and go surfing in Indo anyway cos we don't stick with anything for long right?

Dude: right on Man, right on. tow the fk out of that thing, whateva it is.

Straight out in front of Cervantes townsite.

So no, your one is undamaged Kev, you can breathe easy

I also was worried when I heard about it heading that way with 2hrs to go hahaha. Then I realised if a barge with 100 seatainers on it, all full of heavy stuff, sank right there - we might end up with an awesome artificial reef

You can bet someone was forced by higher management to send the barge right after the storm so they could meet contractual obligations. You can also bet the marine contractor and Chevron will also hang the dude out to dry.
