does anyone windsurf woodie pt these days? 16 years ago, i was down there every day during summer, sailing the northside. that was before i moved to the gold coast.
im back in Perth for xmas, i went down to woodies today and the place is full of kiteborders, on both sides.
alot has changed down there since i the last time i sailed there. is it still popular with windsurfers?
You'll see more windsurfers on the North side when the tide is high and it's windier, as it becomes a reasonable speed spot by WA standards.
The wind gets messed up quite a lot by the rocky groyne and the waves breaking to the south of it, but the water is very flat. The spot is nowhere near as good as it used to be as the sand dunes have got bigger and wider, hence a big wind shadow.
Kite pollution continues to be the major hazard, but it's still a fun spot to sail with the crystal clear waters and the variety of being able to sail either the rough or smooth side.
