Can anyone recommend a windsurfing trailer builder in or near Perth?

Thanks Westozwind. I saw the two pics in your profile. Looks great. What have you got on the roof? I think I can see a vent but then also some other bits. What are the panels and floor made out of?
Like your trailer I would also like a nose cone over the drawbar with a side door.

Anything you would get done differently if you got it built again? Anything that you think is really good / a must have? Anything to look out for?

I'll try Wandering Star for a quote. I thought they just did camping trailers.

Hi Holgs. I have a 200W solar panel and 4/5G/Wi-Fi/GPS antennas on the roof (plus solar ventilation). It had a 60ltr water tank built in (room for another 60ltr too). I have fitted a 120 Ah lithium battery, water pump for showering, LED light strips internally, a stereo, 4/5G modem (with GPS tracking) and a Projecta 2000W inverter.
The floor and chassis are steel and the sides and roof are cool room panel (Aluminum with foam sandwich). I'd make the lower (sails) section a bit higher so it's less cramped but apart from that it's great. Length was decided by a 10' SUP, so if you want to carry anything bigger then more length would be appropriate.
Wandering Star can build to your spec so a larger nose section won't be an issue.
Water tanks are a must and if you go with this construction and know what you want to wire up then they can put the wiring in the panels so it's out of the way. I also have a 9kg gas bottle mount on the draw bar and use it regularly. Match the hubs to your car and you have another spare tyre when traveling.

Thanks Westozwind for the good advice. Yours sounds like a great set up. I want to have solar and fridge in there too. Sorry, last question: You got me thinking about getting a water tank, where in the trailer did you get them to put it?

It's underneath, behind the axle. They have put a tin shroud over it to protect it from getting punctured. There is room in front of the axle to put another tank in.

Also check out Solid Racks for a racking system Each arm is removable and the entire lot can be removed (4 bolts) if you want to use the trailer for something else.

Good consideration.
If I had the skills I would try to DIY. But for starters I can't weld.

Because of legislative changes, as of July 1st, 2023 it's no longer easy to get a DIY built trailer licensed so you're probably better off having it done professionally anyway.

I don't think the rack is bolted to the panel, looks like a structural member where it was bolted to.

I had a quick look at this when you posted the original comment. I think it becomes a nation-wide change, but I only have experience registering homebuilt trailers in NSW. I suspect it will apply to all states.

I cannot exactly figure out the requirements for 'manufacturers of less than 4 per year' which I guess is the typical homebuilt builder.

Trailers have always needed to meet the VSB thing, so I am guessing that there is some way to apply for this for less than 4 per year.

There is a galvanised steel flat sheet that has been sikaflexed to the cool room panel. It has the bolts for mounting attached to it to provide extra stiffness. No structural member behind the panel.
I have 1 x SUP, 3 x windsurfing boards and 3 x booms on this side no problems.
