Soon I will be moving to Singleton (WA 6175) and I was wondering whether there are windsurfing locals there? I went the other day and although we had about 25knots I couldn't see anyone... It would be nice to find a bunch of locals to sail with rather than alone.
These last months I have been in Rockingham/Safety Bay and there is a very nice windsurfing environment there...

I been down the secreat harbour a few times and i was the only one out so i headed to safetey bay. If you go down or are planning on going down send us a pm and if im not working ill pop down. be good to do a downwinder from singelton to saftey bay.

I tried at secrets yesterday but had issues getting through the break as the current was pretty strong. Surfers chased a kite out of the break[}:)] so tried to stay upwind as much as possible but was hard to get a good rip to take me out. I talked to an old surf dude who said there used to be alot of windsurfers at secrets but not anymore.

At least I got wet and dont know until you try!Would be keen on a downwinder though if its cool to join!

My windsurf gear just arrived from Spain last week and hopefully I can pick it up from customs and quarantine next week or the other, I need to look for some roof racks now.

I am now working in Kwinana and will be keen for waves anywhere in this area if its windy after work - finish 4pm most days. Might be good to get a few crew down to singleton or secret harbour one day before summers over? I am thinking I will try and head down thursday.

I work just above you, in Henderson, and usually clock out around 5, although can be flexible if the conditions are promising... I just need to get the roof rack that will not arrive until Wednesday next week (the vw beetle is a bit picky when it comes to roof racks) and repair a small indent in the board damaged during the transport from Spain. I will send you a message when I get the above sorted.

I went to secret harbour yesterday but it was too onshore to enjoy it... the wind also died out a bit after i got on the water. Hopefully its not normally that onshore there or I might have to find somewhere else.

Its always onshore at Secrets in a seabreeze and it has to be honking otherwise you don't make it out the back and you get washed down the beach about 1KM in 30 seconds.

You need SSE or N for it to be any good. The video below was during last winter on a light Northerly.

I am never going to be able to sail in 10 knotts :(

Is there any other spots in the nearby area which are alright (get a small wave) in a sea breeze?

I went out at secret harbor (25 knots) today and To be completely honest i don't think its a good wave-sailing spot. The spot is safe in A SSW environment but it breaks to close to shore. There is no real landmarks on the beach which made it really difficult to locate a decent bank with a wave that wasn't closing out.

Similar problem to dv8r It was difficult to get through the break because :
The sand bank was ankle deep Fin was hitting on bottom.
Had to start in the channel which my board was moving downwind quicker than i could stand on it !

I lost the car-park i launched from and ended up on the beach chancing my water bottle 1.5 kilometers upwind at the wrong entrance..

I would go again i enjoyed it but tired quite quickly

Secret Harbour is just one big close out. Has been for ages.
Ever since the development of houses and the Dawesville cut went thru, the sand just doesn't deposit along there enough. If you want more proof, look at the size of Long Point now compared to 15 - 20yrs ago.
