Hi, I'm new in Perth! I'm a bit confused by the weather recently. Looking at seabreeze the wind looked good for this Wednesday but when I arrived at Melville water nobody was on the water and no wind. Is it better on the ocean (not confident enough tongo there yet)? Is the freo doctor impacting the river?
Thanks for your help to understand how the weather works here in Perth.

Look at the synoptic chart as well. If its blowing SE then likely there will be a decent SW blowing by 2pm.

If its blowing E or NE then less likely. NE much less likely. If its hot--less likely. Cooler-- more likely.

December is the best month. January ok,but Feb and March less frequent and strong.

If the trough is inland on the charts that's good for a seabreeze. If its sitting off the coast then less likely.

Melville is not far from the coast and often gets It stronger than on the coast if the seabreeze charts are to be believed.

This weather is a bit of an anomaly for Perth. What you saw yesterday was a gradient offshore SE, combining with the SW'ly "doctor", which swung to a Southerly when they combined On the ocean. unfortunately when this mix hits land, it is very gusty and changes direction a lot.. Not much fun to sail iin.
