Yep. The slimy buggers broke into my house last night and stole both of our cars. I had just loaded up my wave gear ready for a mission to Lano tomorrow. If anyone sees the following gear pop up suspiciously, please PM me.

Both cars found by the police (nice one guys!) undamaged, but the windsurfing gear is not in the car...so it's out there somewhere, possibly dumped on the side of the road.

Thats lower than a snakes arse! Hope it turns out good and your gear found the cars are a start!

That sucks! Have you let the windsurfing shops know in case someone tries to get rid of it that way.

Can you post details of where the cars were taken from and what suburb they were found in?

The cars were stolen from our house in Mt Lawley and Im not sure where they were recovered. The police haven't released them back to us et as forensics have to do their thing.

The good news is that they have caught the offenders! Nice work again!

Update;

Cars are at the panel beaters (they ARE damaged) but there is no sign of the windsurfing gear. What really sucks is that this stuff is not only very expensive to replace, but it's of no use whatsoever to anyone apart from maybe a few hundred of us hardy windsurfers here in WA.

It looks like insurance will pay out less than half the replacement cost - max $5k for "water craft" and another $750 for "watercraft accessories".

This is CGU.

They weren't even going very fast; 108 in 100 zone. If I stole my missus' car I'd be doing 250kmh+!!

Don't get the red thumbs. I was going to ask the same thing.

I've worked as an academic tutoring in juvenile prisons and I wouldn't be surprised if the offenders would collaborate. They usually chill out a bit once they're inside. Even if you offer them some sort of incentive (cash/cigarettes/whatever). Definitely worth a try? If the police are going to get sprayed, it makes more sense to give the prison workers a call to mediate.

On the flip side, the offenders will obviously not dob any of their mates in for free should they be holding onto it. But if they heard the equipment is basically worthless and a reward was offered, can't see the harm in trying. Pardon the pun, but you really don't have anything to loose at this point!Best of luck! I actually did ask the detective this. He was very helpful but he said that there is no way that the offenders (they caught seven of them) will say one word about where my stuff is. They're mostly juveniles so he said they'll likely spend six months in detention... tops.

When they turn 18 they'll commit some more crimes and then get properly busted. Let's hope they're not violent crimes.

Sorry to hear about this, it does suck that the thieves probably wont learn anything positive from this and your the one who has all the cost and hassle. I hope the cars are ok after the repairs. the gear is probably laying in some back yard somewhere where its been swapped for some drugs.

We had someone walk in the front door (unlocked - our mistake) and take my wifes bag and sons wallet from the kitchen counter. The bag was found in a park bin in Nollamara with almost everything still in it but the credit cards and paywave were used, lots of transactions at bottle shops all over the northern suburbs. I asked the bank how can we remove this stupid paywave from the cards so they at least have to forge a signature and was told that we cant, cant even lower the limit. there were several transactions at the same bottle shop one after the other, surely the bottle shop could see it was sus. eventually the bank gave us back the money but why should the thieves get the free grog and we get the fun of cancelling / replacing all the plastic!

As a further update; the boss's car is getting fixed, mine is probably a write-off and the insurance company is paying out enough for me to replace my windsurfing kit pretty well - thank you HBF.

I feel no emotion whatsoever towards the thieves, positive or negative. They're almost certainly gonna have short sh!tty lives. We'll carry on with ours after all the inconvenience. I'll be windsurfing and they never will, despite the fact they have a pretty nice set of wave gear!

On the morning I woke up to find the back door open and our cars gone, I went up stairs to find my kids safely asleep in bed, and 99.9% of my world was intact.

If I could just fix that subject line that I stuffed up, life would be perfect!

Well said Ado. I blew up my knee skiing in January and will probably miss this whole season after a reconstruction.

Whilst that is a huge bummer, not to mention frustrating, the upside is I didn't kill myself in the process and once i had a chance to calm down after the accident and put things into perspective, the upside I figured was I'll get to spend more time with the kids (and the boss) this summer, so there's a positive .... JC
