I am thinking of heading back to WA in January 2012 to do a road trip for 4 weeks. My plan is to drive north of Perth and start my sailing at Lancelin and then move on up to Gnaraloo. At the moment, it looks like I will be coming over on my own,
I will be honest here and say that I have only sailed Lancelin once when I was there last year, and I stayed inside of the reef. I do sail in waves here in the UK, but have not sailed reef breaks yet.
Given the remoteness of these regions, I am also trying to understand whether I can expect it to be a camping trip or whether there are hostels.
Just keen to get some thoughts from those who know and have sailed these regions.
Thanks
Forget Gnaraloo if you didn't do the waves at Lano. You will end up in a world of hurt.
Also, Jan is way too late for Gnaraloo.
And yes, Gnaraloo is reallly
camping. You need all your water (like 20L per person per day), all food, shelter, everything. Think "living on the moon" for the period you will be there.
Stick to Lano and Coronation just north of Gero.
