Finally the stars aligned today so I could go for a sail down here, packed the gear in the car and off I went...

Surfers point full of kites, no windsurfers.

No-one out at Prevelly, Gnarabup, or Gas bay.

This was with a solid 20-25 knot seabreeze, not much swell but hey why not go for a sail.

I know for a fact that Pinaroo, Mettams, and the Peel estuary would have loads of windsurfers all out enjoying the wind... so why not here?

Didn't feel confident going out, not knowing where the shallow spots were so went home.

Where were you all? Or are you all so hardcore that anything under 2m swell is enough to have a barbecue instead?

Saturday is farmers market day. Sharks go to mains for sailor snacks; sailors go to market for little piggies, and herbs. No sailing, unless at secretsville.

If it's small a lot of us don't really bother. Or we go to the secret spot. Just go to mains if you are unsure sail wide on the way out and don't come in between the 2 peaks and you will be ok. And as you noticed you will have heaps of kite friends. Also a lot of the local guys sail later in the day

Thanks guys.

I had a chat to two kiters there, both Euros... Nothing against them but the chances of a helping hand if something goes wrong seem a bit less when they don't speak english very well. Maybe I'm showing my prejudices.

So I went out today near Bunbury at a spot I've supped at before, at least there I know where the shallow spots are. Miss the first gybe, fall in and gash my leg pretty badly on the fin. Cripes. Maybe mother nature is trying to tell me something about windsurfing down here.

Nebs Nebs Nebs. You are pretty much right on the money. When It's small/no waves and you are frothing to sail just head to Augusta.
I'll catch up with you this week and give you the low down. That's why I took up mountain biking. It's an awesome cross training activity and you can "surf" the dirt
